Because it was addressed. Samuel Peter has been hit flush by every fighter I've seen him in the ring with. Every one of those fights I have on .avi format. Those being (off the top of my head) Waldo Klitschko James Toney Giles Knox Jeremy Williams Yanqui Diaz And others which I don't have access to at the moment. Waldo is easily one of the sharpest punchers in the division. If you by some chance mean to say that Maskaev is in Waldo's league in terms of power or technique then I cannot discuss this with you further.
i'll put him in that league as far as raw power goes. however not speed an accuracy which give wlad his real punch
There's certainly a lot of faith in Maskaev in this thread. Good, it'll make for a more entertaining fight night here, whoever wins.
I surely dont intend to say that Maskaev is in Wlad's league, but I would like to point out that Maskaev beat Wlad at the amateurs.
Samuel is a lot better fighter than many are giving credit for, I don't know why everyone keep knocking Peter , he completely shut out Toney in thier last fight and outboxed him handily throughout, Toney is a very capable boxer. Maskaev really isn't an extra special fighter, I see Samuel winning a reletively easy bout.. Oleg boxes at his best when he feels like it.. Too inconsistant.. I hope it turns out to be an exciting affair, boxing needs a defining fight, especially at heavyweight..
I do not want to take any credit from Peter for him beating Toney, as I do not want to take credit from Danny Batchelder either for outboxing even a more fit Toney. However, what I find the most laughable is that some posters present the "new" Peter as a master boxer here. He is an entertaining fighter but his skills desire to wish for much more. I really hope he is training as well and coming into thi fight in good shape. Because if he comes obese, I will give Maskaev a good chance to beat him.
Peter is clearly the favorite in this match up. The durability of Oleg is questionable but his confidence is not. He can hurt Peter. The way the challenger walks straight in can be dangerous against a good puncher like Oleg. IMO there is a small chance Peter will come in over confident and fail to blow Oleg out of there in the first 4 rds. He may start getting hit and not throwing a lot back. This guy is tough and strong but very limited in his boxing skills. But the most likely scenario is a early ko and a new champ. Lets hope for Peter's sake he can finally get a ko against a top 20 fighter. A loss in this one is a one way train ride to Palookaville. Oleg has done well in koing Rahman he looked strong and pretty well schooled in that fight but he did loose 4 or 5 rds and got hit in the process. The early rds were all Rahman. Sam Peter will not let him off the hook if he gets him on his heels. I hope Maskaev comes in with a game plan that includes loading up in the first few rds. Might as well go down swinging. That is not to say I would not recommend some holding on Oleg's part. He should look to get off first with power and shut things down. Get separation and do it again. Mix it up to the body and the head. Peter may become frustrated and start walking into big shots. Team Maskaev needs to need to come up with something Peter will not expect or their fighter will get koed early. If Maskaev is still there after 4 Peter will be fighting Olegs fight and will be in danger of loosing. You would almost thing it is foolish to even give Maskaev a slight chance in this one but Peter is younger stronger and tougher. But he fights like a punching bag with his chin out. He better have a good chin because his style is a ko waiting to happen. That is the only reason this fight is worth watching.
Peter the masterboxer! You are right, shpion! A lot of posters here sounds as if Peter has turned into a second Chris Byrd with the firepower of Vitaly Klitschko. Peter for sure isnt the underdog against Maskaev. No doubt about that. However,Peter had two lame fights against Toney who luckily beat the great Danny Batchelder in his last fight(Dimitrenko stopped him in 7 rounds). Peter also had to go the full route with Jovo Pudar-an average Croation heavy weight with no punch at all. I wouldnt bet much money on Maskaev, but I ,too, give a good chance to beat Peter.
Get the **** outte here, Peter reminded us of Ali?!! :rofl Peter sucks but if he's your only hope, good luck with that, you'll need it! Even if Peter does beat Oleg he has Vitali up next & the older Klitschko will punish Peter & KO him within 8 rounds. :tong
i don't know about being wobbled, but there were several occasions where tony backed him up with overhand rights
