I agree that Haye should fight the Rahman-Toney winner. The winner of Rahman Toney will have a bit of clout, will be a legit top ten, and will also be a known name. If Haye can beat the Rahman Toney winnner in a dramatic fashion, I think that one win would be all he'd need to be deemed worthy of a fight with Wlad. But I'd rather see Wlad fight for a third title, as unification is more important than merely fighting Haye (who has no heavyweight titles, and unification is the priority over shutting Haye's mouth), but Haye / Wlad would also be good to see, regardless.
haye has all the potential in the world if him and wlad get it on for all the titles in late 2009! thats all that i want and that fight would get the whole division noticed again! but haye needs names like briggs and contenders like maskaev or ruiz ! "easier said than done" but if haye does that while wlad collects the belts n hbo gets a big promo for the fight then we got a greeat fight on our hands!
Maskaev has made the correct choice. I know which man I would rather fight. This content is protected This content is protected
Haye is far from a cherry picker, he fought Thompson in only his 10th fight, and lost but he shown balls by taking that fight, which was a huge fight for him. He fought Fragomeni who is by far a more difficult fight than many other fights he could have taken, and Haye KO'd him. He fought Tomasz Bonin in his first heavyweight fight, who was ranked 11th by the WBC and had only lost one fight before hand aswell as being able to throw a punch, Haye could have fought a bum in his first heavyweight fight and nobody would have blamed him, but he got in the ring with a half decent fighter, and stopped him in the first round after knocking him down 3 times. He then went back down to Cruiserweight and fought Jean-Marc Mormeck in Paris for the WBC title when he could maybe have haggled until he got the fight in London. Haye went down and got back up to KO Mormeck. After beating Mormeck and winning the WBC title he put it on the line against Enzo Maccarinelli in a needless Battle of Britain and KO'd tthe bigger hitter in 2 rounds. Cherry picker? :deal
Bonin a decent fighter? No way man.... Im still shocked that Bonin was even ranked 11 by the WBC... Im Polish so I followed Bonin a little bit. And prior to the Haye fight he fought a guy who was 0-0-0 and he was struggling and he got knocked down in the process! A decent fighter doesn't struggle and get knocked down by a guy whos record is 0-0 in his 40th fight or so.... Bonin was lucky to get that ranking.... Bonin's record was wack, don't let that fool you.
Bonin was not a legit heavywieght fight by anyone's standards. He's not even half decent, as scott is cool tries to say. Haye has yet to fight a legit heavyweight fighter. But I don't doub that he'll do very well when he finally does....but the fact remains....he has yet to. Done alot of talking, so far, though. But he's merely hyping himself, much as a business promotes itself through advertising and PR. Can't blame him for trying to sell himself and make himself all the money he can. I just would like to see him do the big talking after he's got his first legit top ten heavy outta there. THEN, hype and promote how bad he is at heavy.
He wanted Wlad as his first real fight at heavyweight. True cherry picking, dumb ass, He can't fight top guys if top guys avoid him and/or are tied up and most the top 10 are tied up in fights
It was his 11th fight. :yep And he fought Thompson because he was a 40 year senior citzen thought to be washed up enough to give Haye a little bit of adversity but still an easy knockout victim for Haye because he was stopped many times before by not exactly stellar opposition. Please don't make Thompson to be something he never was, especially not at 40 years of age. What are talking about, this was exactly what he did. Everyone who has seen Bonin knew what he was, a bum with a padded record. Yeah, I give him credit for that his best win by a mile but not exactly an impressive performance, and Mormeck was already on the slide for a few years. Maccarinelli isn't even worth talking about, a protected regional clubfighter who was handed a belt without even having to fight for it.
Great analysis, considering he has only had one fight at heavyweight. Let Haye's next opponent be officially announced before you haters start moaning.
Like I said, Haye is a cherry picker as far as HW's go. Bonin was the easiest vs. best paper record ratio at the time. Most people never even heard of him & he fought nobodies to achieve that paper record. Maskaev is like an old wounded duck and Haye know it too. Not that Oleg's chin was ever solid & he was never the quickest of hand or foot. Don't bull**** me, he's cherry picking his HW opponents. Let's see Haye vs. Tua, Arreola or even Peter.
