Toney staggered Peter with a right hand. Vlad had Peter out on his feet in the 12th round. McCline sure kicked Peter's arse, lucky Don King was there!
If that fight is not fixed, Oleg has an excellent chance to beat Peter. Why did Don King/Peter order the largest ring in Mexico?
Fixed? That sounds like nothing but an excuse in case Maskaev loses. If Peter K.O.ed Maskaev . . . are you saying now that the guy took a dive? :think
Before, McCline was a journeyman/bum/tomato can. But NOW that he swept the ring, real nice and clean, with Peter's ass, NOW, McCline a different fighter who has all kinds of credibility and would drop anyone, and only Peter would get up? LOL
The champion choses the fight venue, gets the large share of the purse, has neutral judges, referee, etc., but Oleg gets none of that, Peter/King, gets whatever he wants and always has. Don King will try to cheat Vitali of Vlad out of a rematch. All Peter has to do is be standing after 12 and he has the fight won, no matter what.
I think Peter will win. I want Maskaev to win, but he's old and has been inactive. Peter looked pretty bad his last time around but I'm sure he'll come in prepared this time. If he shows up like he did in the McCline fight I'd give Oleg a good chance tho.
C'mon, the guy has done his best. Don't make him out to be a flake. No one was more disappointed then him when he had to back out of the Rahman fight.
Pete had bad hands, too, and apparently didn't sleep the night before, not to mention the in-grown toe nail and the sprained ankle.. No wonder he looked bad against McCline.:nut
I didn't mention any broken hands, which is a bull**** excuse. You're adding things that I never mentioned or was getting at. But a perferated ear drum is a legitimate excuse that can seriously affect a fighter's balance and can make them very vulnerable. Time will tell whether that was the case or if Peter's chin was cracked big time.
Even before Peter-McCline was scheduled, I always said McCline was very dangerous early (especially with an uppercut on the inside or at midrange). His problem is that he gasses out and can be outworked as the fight goes on.
I sure hope Maskaev does not win. He does not seem to have too much interest in being a fighting 'champion'. If this fight took place beforte the McCline fight I would have picked Peter for sure, but Peter is more fragile than we first percieved. Oleg is no world beater, but Peter is crude, and his chin seems just as suspect. I have NO IDEA who is going to win. The two fighters are each bad enough that this should be a good fight!
Don King doesn't chose and assign judges buddy . . . it's the sanctioning bodies . . . to be approved by both camps . . .so your claim is baseless. We all know King is a cheater . . . in terms of negotiations but in rigging fight results . . . Nobody has ever proved anything. Don't be so negative.
I will take Peter by t/ko somewhere in the 3-6 round range. I think he's going to murder Maskaev (if Peter has been training hard, which I keep hearing he is but haven't seen it myself)
