All Maskaev has done in the last 6 years is get 6 years OLDER. And glass jaws don't improve with age. This one's gonna end early, with Oleg flat on his back. I do trust you are man enough to eat your crow once Oleg hits the deck??
The people in this thread that are trying to talk up Jameel McCline should be ashamed. McCline is a joke and alwaya has been. A man his size has no excuse getting pushed around like he has in his career. He was bouncing Peter around the ring like a basketball. You Peter nuthuggers should be ashamed for trying to insult my intelligence trying to tell me McCline is worth a crap. LOL. If Maskaev uses movement like he did in the Rahman fight he will beat the limited Peter. We always hear about Peter's power but he has yet to KO a top 25 Heavyweight. Wlad has a Glass Jaw just as bad as Oleg's and Peter could not KO him. I believe this will be an interesting and exciting fight. Either way whoever wins is going to get smashed by Vitali klitschko. A 75% Vitali beats both of these bums.
Don't twist it. McCline is not a top guy. The fact that he could not finish a badly hurt Sam Peter, a badly hurt Chris Byrd, a badly hurt Calvin Brock are proof of this. But he has knocked out other guys and dropped and beat other guys like Michael Grant and Shannon Briggs. You seem to want to dismiss the fact that the guy has power. I don't. I never said he was a top heavyweight. Again, don't twist it.
Look here is the problem with Maskaev. He is a stiff. Plain and simple. He was decked by Kirk Johnson on a punch he didn't see and he was also decked by Lance Whitaker on a punch he didn't see. Also by Corey Sanders on a number of punches he didn't see. Do you see a pattern forming here? None of those three guys mentioned have the sort of speed, power and aggression that Samuel Peter will bring. And unlike fighting McCine who everyone has to punch up to reach, he'll be fighting someone eye level, who does not have the cute defensive moves of James Toney. He's gonna hit Maskaev fast and hard. It's gonna be a knockout for Sam Peter.
I gotta agree. I like the way Maskaev never lets Rahman off the hook once he was hurt. He closed the distance weel & landed some accurate power punches to close the show. Oh yeah, Rahman is a better boxer than Sam Peter IMO. Much better jab & equal power.
Nice tribal smock on Peter :rofl I think my Great Grandma had the same taste in house dresses...................
Yeah, but Peter's got a MUCH better chin. Say what you will about his getting KD'd by McCline, but he got UP - unlike Rahman, who when he hit the deck was usually out cold. That's the telltale sign of a glass jaw.:yep
Absolutely no questions about Sam Peter's chin. That right hand McCline hit him with in the third round would have knocked average heavyweights out cold. Infact I will say right now that Sam Peter will go the rest of his professional career without getting hit with a right hand as devastating as that right hand McCline decked him with. It was that brutal.
no doubt about it...i wonder who he was looking at :yep Your boy is getting knocked out soon. maybe not against oleg but he gets hit way too much. these aren't featherweights, these are big men who can all crack! This content is protected
i agree with the last sentence. But how can you believe this "ruptured eardrum" nonsense. Remember, Peter said the above kd was a "slip" and Mccline was rabbit punching :rofl He also said both of his hands were broken before the fight. Slimeball managers Ivailo Gotzev and Duva were illegally scorecard watching. They also said he would never get knocked down in his career and was the best hw puncher since shavers. although i am surprised oleg is leading this poll. i would favor peter slightly considering all factors but my hate for him is the deciding factor.....that and the avatar bet i have with notorious peter nuthugger, the punisher
His promoters are supposed to hype him up, but yeah, some of the stuff that comes out of their mouth is bull****. Scorecard watching is completely unacceptable and Duva should still be suspended right now. The "broken hand" excuse by Peter was pathetic. But on HBO.com, they make it seem pretty official that he had a perferated eardrum. Who knows? Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. All in all, I'm looking forward to seeing how his chin holds up against Maskaev who has very good power.
i bet if anything, he suffered the supposed injury during the fight. It's damage control, nothing else imo. i expect both men to land but am very concerned about maskaev. at his age, how much motivation and fight does he have left? but i will give peter credit if he does indeed win LEGITLY. I dont want to see a very close fight then some wide ass scoring by the judges like in peter-toney 1 i think it's going to the cards with oleg winning by 3 or 4pts, but id expect a split decision. i dont care what anyone says, the wbc is don king's *****. they recently released a letter responding to rappaport's claim of bias to peter, which was complete garbage. they referred to peter as the champion and addressed maskaev as only "mr. maskaev".
Very good point...that's certainly a possibility Maskaev is the kind of guy who stays in good shape year round, but his age is going to come into play. He hasn't fought since December 2006, so I expect him to be very rusty and not as sharp as he was against Rahman or Okhello. I could see him looking similar to Jose Luis Castillo against Hatton - very slow, uncoordinated, unsteady, etc. At the same time, the long layoff could have been good for him and given him time to rest/recover. We'll just have to wait and see. I read that letter the other day; I was pretty shocked. If I were Oleg, I'd be pretty pissed right now and images of Peter on the canvas would be running through my mind. Perhaps he feels as though he's the challenger looking to get his title back, and we all know how dangerous those guys can be. With all that said, I am picking Peter by early to mid round TKO, but I have a feeling this is going to the cards with him winning a UD (if I'm being completely honest and unbiased here). He's got that clubbing type power, but not a KO punch. I'm just not sold on his ability to finish off top 10 heavyweights yet - even though as a fan picking with my heart, I've picked by by stoppages over Toney and McCline.
