What does everyone just seem to assume that Maskaev is looking for one last big payday, as if he has already announced that he's retiring after his next fight? I may have missed it, but I don't recall reading anything stating that he is about to retire.

The guy has fought a series of good fights and is on a long winning streak and certainly deserves to be here, and certainly deserves to make the most of his time here at the titleholding level. He TKOed Rahman, won the title, and is finally starting to make some serious scratch for all his years and years of plying his trade by working in this brutal sport.

Win or lose, and regardless of whom he goes up against, I don't see Maskaev retiring at 38, especially when the division is littered with many older fighters who are older than Oleg, and they seem to be doing well for themselves.

I think we'll see Maskaev retain his title, (if he ever gets his split and defends it,) and will then he may go on to unify with Wlad, or at least, defend against Vitali. And given that the K bros are cash cows, especially in Europe, I think either one of those fights should make Oleg alot of money.

    But first things first.......:

    Maskaev UD Peter.

There's no way Maskaev ko's Peter. His only shot would be by decision and I don't see that happening either.

Maskaev's future isnt going to be bright if that fight with Sam Peter comes to fruition.

I personally don't care. After Okhelo title defense I lost respect for him, and I hope he is out of the picture whether it is versus Peter or Klitschko.

His future is dim wether or not he faces Peter. If he faces Peter he gets ko'd but good,if he doesn't he will get stripped. He has someone giving him horid advice.Take the money and get ko'd.

I'd think his future would be rather bright with a win over Peter.

Maskaev is at the end of his career, and of course he prefers fighting Wlad or Vitaly to figthing that unknown American based African. He can earn a huge paycheck against either Klitschko brothers. How much can he earn against that totally unknown African? Even without a title a fight against Vitaly makes more sense than a title defence against Sam.Maskaev is over the hill, and though he has a puncher's chance against either Klitschko brother a victory against either of them isnt very likely.A huge paycheck would sugarcoat that bitter pill!

I think some of you assume he's about to retire, merely cause he wants to get a big fight, and cause he wants to get good pay for it.

I think both of those aspects are things that most all fighters want, no matter if they are looking at retirement or not.

Maskaev is 38, and is not really what you'd call an old heavy, given the other heavies out there who are older than he is, and doing quite well. It seems 38 is the new 33, these days.

I think we'll see Maskaev fight on and continue, no matter if he retains his title, or not. He showed good stamina and good power, even in the last round in his fight with Rahman.

you honestly **** me fatcity, i can't believe you could give advice like that. I would prefer him not fight if it means he will get knocked out badly. we want to keep more fighters in the sport, not lose them to a hospital bed.

Another pearl of wisdom from an ass bandit like fatcity.

OLEG sucks...the Cinderella Man thing is over. He wasn't even impressive in his last outing against hand picked ham & egger Peter Okhello...

His future is the receiving end of a knockout, VITKLIT (maybe) or Peter (no doubt).

    Strip OLEG of the belt.
