Mason Joseph Menard is a 5'6 27 year old Lightweight with a 32-1 24 KO's 1 KO loss record. Born in and fighting out of Rayne, Acadia Parish, Louisiana, USA aka The Frog Capital Of The World. He had a decent amateur career, and he comes from a family of boxers, his father and brothers boxed or box as well, he had an early massive stumble getting KO'd in 27 seconds, he chalked it up to be careless and overly confident, he got dropped hard in his next match, but luckily got up and KO'd his opponent a few seconds later, he's seemingly learned his lesson, he hasn't been dropped since, against far bigger punchers. To be perfectly honest, I didn't know a hell of a lot about Mason Menard until a few months ago, I highly doubt that many did, since he's fought 30 of his 32 pro matches in Louisiana. But that all changed in April of 2016 when he made his Showtime debut as the opponent for decent undefeated Dominican prospect Eudy Bernardo, well after that match was over everyone who watched it, now knew Mason Menard's name, he savagely KO'd Bernardo with an overhand right one punch KO that went right to the top of Showtime's list of channels Best KO's, Eudy had to be removed from the ring on a stretcher. While I thought it was awesome, he hadn't really faced a proper test, after all Bernardo was an unproven prospect, so I was unsure of how legit he was, well he's legit now, his next opponent was Bahodir Mamadjonov, who's a tricky as hell southpaw from Kazakhstan, known for making guys look horrible, and he also has a damn good chin, his only loss was against the African KO artist Richard Commey, in that fight he traded with Commey for 8 rounds before finally going down. Baha did what was expected, his southpaw stance gave Menard fits for the first 6 rounds, but Mason was patient, and worked diligently to figure Baha out and finally started pouring on the intelligent pressure dropping him twice in the 7th with brutal body shots, then he didn't rush in and took his time in the 8th, and finally in the 9th he landed a combination that hurt Baha, then he went to work, dropping Baha against the ropes, he wilted and slid backwards and onto the canvass in a KO that while not one punch, matched the Bernardo KO for sheer brutality. The jury is still out on Menard as far as how far he can go, but the verdict has come in on his power, its frighteningly real, and the entire Lightweight division better take notice, because the Ragin Cajun known as Rock Hard Mighty might just be the real deal.:toney:toney:toney:toney

Entertaining fighter to watch, brings the heat! :fire

27 years old, can he make a leap up in class? Can't see him beating the top 20 in lightweight yet, but will tune in.

Funny I thought the same thing, but unlike you I don't impulsively go all out start a thread because of a fleeting thought, if hat was the case, I'd be making 400 threads a day, threads should be a little more substantive than a typical tweet.:deal

I can think of two I'd have done last night...

Wow, where did this Gongora guy come from? What a KO.

Boy Sweet Hands is boring as hell, and his power is overrated.:deal

That body work in his last fight would still bring a smile to LaMotta's face. I'd never heard of this guy until this year, but I won't be missing a fight from here on out.

Being from down south in Louisiana, this is my first time hearing or reading about Mason Menard. I'm now thrilled to watch his future fights! Like his style for sure.

He's got good handspeed and I love the power he puts behind his punches. Kind of like a smaller, more reserved Lemieux, not in style but in terms of rotational energy and watchability, like the body weight he puts behind his punches. Hahahaha I love the way he talks. "Skeelz pay duh beelz, and we gon' beat 'im wit skeel!!!"

I question his defense, though. Kind of hard to pull off the shoulder roll like FMJ, and he got tagged by Baha quite a bit with the straight left. He doesn't seem to have the head movement necessary for that guard. I think he's tailor-made for Robert Easter Jr. if he ever gets that far.

Either way, a guy to watch. Thanks CST80.
