Except guys like Hearn said "Ortiz obviously knocked down Wilder midway through the fight."

And Arreola said: "I didn't think Ortiz would knock Wilder down. But we got to give Wilder a lot of credit. He got up and survived that round."

Which not only implies they think he got knocked down, they SAY he did and he got up. Hearn said "obviously he was knocked down." Areola said "He got up."

Other people have said he was knocked down, too.

I don't think I've ever seen this happen before. It's like everyone insisting Ali's glove had to be replaced against Cooper, but people weren't saying that AT THE TIME. They only said it later when Angelo Dundee began telling the story and people picked it up.

Guys like Arreola and Hearn and some people online WATCHED the fight and said that immediately after, even though it never actually happened.

Arreola said it before they even announced the winner in the ring. The fight had just ended.

There's also a diffference between not going down and people saying you were "obviously knocked down and you got up."

    A BIG difference.

Remember when Foreman floored Ali and Ali got up to win? Me neither.

    I agree

I was merely speculating on what these people may have interpreted as a knockdown when, as we know, it clearly wasn’t

I remember something similar happening once. When Calzaghe fought hopkins most people seemed fine with the decision and felt Calzaghe outworked him. Then when Bernard went on to dominate Pavlik and seemed rejuvenated, many people started retroactively saying he also beat Joe.

IT's like mass hypnosis in reverse when the referee and the crowd didn't see Nichols drop Wilder with the check jab in their fight.

The Psy-Op -UK based- organized campaign was meant to demoralize the American, but Deontay Wilder doesn't listen to anybody, other than the noble voice in his head. The Psy-OP damage ended up on the peasants who were waiting for Wilder chin to shatter, so for them that round was meant to be the end of Wilder.

I was thinking, what if that were Joshua beating the hell out of Wilder?! Yes, Joshua will knock Wilder out, no doubt about all...................hell, an old, sick, 50 year old man almost knocked Wilder out, won every round except two, can't wait for Joshua to knock him out!

I didn't see nearly enough punches land for any mention of a 10-8 round. People are getting beside themselves with that.

I had it even until :39 when he was wobbling.
I scored it 10/9 but I don't think it's unfathomable to score it 10/8 as Wilder landed only a few minor counters during the onslaught.
But I don't go there unless it's a strong Rd to the fighter prior to his near fight ending domination near the end of a Rd.

And FTR...To anyone using the ORTIZ gassed due to age, out of shape.
Go back to those 2 rds. He blew his wad. Didn't gas.
