He dropped and stopped his opponent. If that is coping, then I will cope on.

that was expected, its the part that wasnt expected thats seemingly hard to deal with. the part where usyk needed a stoppage in most peoples view....in a boxing match, against a guy who isnt really a boxer. thats where the coping gets entertaining.

Some points about Usyk’s age might be right, but let’s not say no one cares about Foreman v Young..how many threads on this forum disparage Foreman for that loss?
Lewis similarly is probably in half of fans top 5, at most, but without those ko losses he’d probably be there on nearly everyone’s list.

We need a Larry Merchant interrogating the fighters like the awesome HBO days. None of this overly careful and shallow rubbish, ask the real questions and get the real answers. I remember when he straight up said to Hopkins after a title defense what the hell was the point of that? And Hopkins basically said they called my mandatory, tv put up the money, it was a boring fight, people came to see it. What else do you expect me to do? And Merchant went over his remit which he did a bit too much, especially when he’s holding his kid daughter in front of him lol but it was always entertaining and Hopkins replied with ‘you get paid for not doing much every day on the TV, Larry’. Met his match that time.

I told everyone it was going to be a good fight. Rico had certain real advantages going in.

yes, plenty of his fans were working overtime trying to justify usyk fighting an unranked boxer before the fight. that was also to be expected. its the unexpected parts that are causing all the ruckus. if anyone could have known how the fight would actually turn out, they could have also predicted how usyks super fans would be taking it. its just what one would expect. the ones without an axe to grind are calling it like it is, a bad showing. what it all means heading into the future remains to be seen. personally, i dont think it will change things much from where usyk would be in 10 years time on the historical ladder. he was never going to be in the top 10 heavies all time. the quality in the resume was just not going to be there. this just quickens the eventual perspective.

No, I wrote, in advance, everything that came into play exactly as it did.

    Now, YOU are coping.

if you wrote that usyk would be needing a ko to salvage a win, then i misjudged you and you are not just fanboying but displaying amazing foresight instead.

No, I delineated all the of the real qualities and advantages that Rico would bring to the fight and predicted that he would do better than most of Usyk's opponents.

Usyk will do what he always does, hide behind the language and war barrier.

"Usyk, you were 8 rounds down to a kickboxer?"

"Dis war, my people in bombing shelter, dis is boxing."

It wasn’t 9–1 or 8–2. I think Rico was ahead, but not by much, and the compubox numbers confirm that.
Anyway, who cares if it was 10–0? Usyk knocked him down, rico managed to get like 20 seconds of recovery time by spitting out his mouthguard and still couldn’t defend himself or punch back. Then the British referee came up with a typical british stoppage and robbed Usyk from stopping Rico in the 12th. Rico was done. He was way too tired to make it through another three minutes.
Of course this is bad for usyk, but he is 39 and clearly past his best. He came in looking out of shape and not fully prepared, and he probably underestimated Rico. Ukraine, where Usyk’s family is, was being bombed during the fight which had to be weighing on his mind, yet he still got the job done.
Many of those slagging Usyk need to remember that Usyk is now older than “greats” like Mike Tyson was when he was getting knocked out by bums.
And don’t compare this to Fury vs. Ngannou. Fury was 35, Usyk is 39, and Ngannou is nowhere near the fighter Rico is. Fury got dropped and fought to survive, while Usyk stopped Rico.

fury was 35, Usyk is 39 . Rico is elite kickboxer, Ngannou is a basic slugger, Fury got dropped and was mostly landing jabs, Usyk dropped and stopped Rico. First post or not , YDKSAB.
