Tried to score it like the Germans would do and had him down by one point. He didn't land enough clean punches in the close rounds, for those german ****s standing behind your guard and landing a few clean shots per round constitutes a winning round. Proper bias in favour of Sturm, There were 3 rounds I had as dead draws.. Obviously it was them rounds that were found in favour for Sturm hence the wides score margins.
Agreed. If he loves ireland so much, why doesn't he move over there? The Tipperary Tornado my arse! The lad's a brummie. Fair play to him, but he was NEVER going tin over there unless it was a ko. Be interesting to hear his excuse though....
o.k i get you now,,bit like our ex british/canadian heavyweight champ who now lives in america..still , on the flip side i'd happily consider choi as british these days...
I've got to give Macklin tremendous credit . I wouldnt say it was a robbery as it was a fight that could have gone either way although it was a lot closer than the 4 rounds two judges had it . At the end of the day MAcklin's shown he can go 12 rounds against a world class fighter and cause him serious problems. He was unlucky to lose but its raised his profile and improved his reputation no end .
It took me a while to warm to Lennox dunno why really. He was great fighter but i couldn't connect with him like Frank. I consider Choi British because he wants to be here and loves us and treats us with upmost respect. The man is a legend! :happy
Massive respect to Macklin but I was very dissapointed in Sturm. Macklin was just plodding forward in strait lines, never fainted or use'd good footwork to get in close. He just walked forward and wailed away. I think Barker will box Macklins ears off if they ever meet. Saying that, I had Macklin by a comfortable 2 round victory.
Yeah i think Barker needs to get another fight or two in still worry about his stamina but he's classy and really feel that he can grab a world crown and do his brother proud.
How ****ing ignorant and right wing are you? For anyone with family pride, its called heritage. He's 2nd generation Irish. Irish parents and family and upbringing. Heritage. Its something that certain cultures take great pride in actually. What a **** for being pround of his irish roots. Do you know your heritage nipple?
Aside from ignorant post....Macklin gave a great account for himself. You always do have to take into account home judges. Without them I gave it to Sturm by just 1. Which at the final bell gave it to strum. I had 3 rounds a draw which all clearly went to the home boy. The 116-112's were way off the mark though. But he should be really proud of his performance, and I'd argue for a rematch. It was close.
Maybe you need to start a "Jim Watt must go thread" mate? I thought it was an excellent fight. The punch stats were way off imo. After seeing them having Mack landing 15 in the the 1st, I made a point of counting the second and had him landing 40+ in that round alone. Early on, he was landing straight through Strums high guard and was scoring up and down with the hook consistantly. That said, no robbery imo. The fight that could have went either way. I actually thought Watts scorecard was solid. Workrate and agression for Macklin, with Strum doing the cleaner work and closing the show well. Macklins lack of experience in the later rounds cost him in what was a terrific effort from him and he can hold his head high. I echo the respect to him!
No point in a rematch sadly. It would be fun to watch all over again but there is not a real prospect of a different result unless the fight was on different territory. Macklin gave his absolute best effort and still only managed a close fight, so thats not going to swing it for him in Germany. And Sturm ain't leaving Germany, not to rematch a guy he already has a 'win' over.
