Volume punching is totally ineffective when you fight someone that is REALLY hard to hit AND a great counter puncher! I don't remember the punch stats but didn't Hopkins throw more punches than Pavlik?

But volume puncher Calzaghe beat Hopkins handily.

    Stupid thread, honestly.

Calzaghe is not a volume puncher. He is a master boxer that throws a lot of punches.

I wouldn't say always but i would say a good technical boxer will usually beat a good brawler.

Skill can generally out do brute force and athleticism in most sports.

Yeah, that's what everyone was saying before he fought Lacy and we all knew Lacy can take a punch yet who was wobbled from the first "slap" in the opening round?

These "slap" jokes are idiotic and pathetic already, look at his KO ratio and wake the **** up.

Joe will never get the credit he deserves. He is not a slapper or just a volume puncher. He is a ****ing LEGEND!

In most cases, the thread title is true.....but not always.

Cotto definitely would be considered a master boxer when compared to Margarito's skills......

Does anyone remember Mayorga twice beating Vernon Forrest?

How about Iran Barkley's two big wins vs Tommy Hearns?

    There is alot more examples.
There are too many factors to consider than just seeing it as Master Boxer vs Volume Puncher!

Tha's funny cos two of the judges had him winning by at least 3 points and Hopkins had a KD in the 1st. Dunno what fight you were watching, maybe the same one as that dumb broad Adelaide Byrd.
