    This confuses me.

So Hopkins fights to a close SD loss to the number 2 p4p fighter in the world. A fight that could be argued he won (I had it 8-4 for Joe...but a valid arguement for Bernard can made). And his days as a p4p fighter are over??? How does that make sense?

    :huh

I'll explain why hopkins will win.

    1. what is pavlik's money punch? his right hand. hopkins is a ****ing master at rolling with that punch and countering with his own excellent right hand. I've seen pavlik overshoot his right hand and get a little out of balance. If he does that versus hopkins, he may get knocked down by a punch he doesn't see coming ala calzaghe. Watch hopkins fight versus echols, who at his best could throw a right hand as hard as any punch in pavlik's arsenal. when hopkins did have to take a few, he took them without much trouble but 90% of the time, hopkins countered with his own right hand and ultimately made echols reluctant to throw it. I can see the same happening to pavlik

    2. the weight. hopkins looked stronger than he ever has when he moved up while still remaining excellent agility. pavlik, in the rematch with taylor at 166, looked slow and lethargic but due to his good stamina, pulled through.

    3. speed. calzaghe, taylor and roy jones all have fast hands that troubled bernard. pavlik does not carry these advantages.

I'd say pavliks advantages are (obviously) youth/stamina and punching power.

    now ask yourselves..

    Ring smarts?
    footwork?
    defense?
    counterpunching?
    experience?

I'll explain why Hopkins will lose.

    1. Father Time. Father Time waits for no man, not even gym rats like Hoke. Oh, he'll always have a job being Mrs. Daisy's driver, or washing Oscar's and Richard Shaefer's cars, or hell, even posing for the new boxes of Cream of Wheat, but he is getting too old for this business. 45 is it. He is getting beaten more often now, although he looked decent against Vargas victim Wright, or Antonio "one shot" Tarver. Hopkins couldnt roll with Jermain's or Joe's right all that hot, and Pavlik hits harder than both. Watch Hopkins fight Echols? I might as well watch Tyson fight Spinks. Ancient History.

    2. The Weight. Hopkins was at his best as a pure 160 pound middleweight. He flat out got lucky against a bloated Tarver for the RING belt.

    3. Speed. Hopkins never had any in his youth, 12 years ago and sure as **** has none now, as is evidenced in his last fight. Pavlik has his ass here.

Pavlik's main advantages are power, youth and stamina. Bernard, as much ballyhoo as is made of his stamina ran out of gas against our hero, Joe.

ringsmarts, footwork and defense, they are about even. This isnt 1999 anymore, Honey. And counterpunching? Hopkins is no ****ing James Toney by a longshot.

    Pavlik, UD Hopkins :good

I agree on all points. Maybe Pavlik should train like he always does and not worry about the weight?

Save the urge for the fight. I have a feeling you will want to violently crush you TV and you may want to have at least one of them left.

Trust me. Arguing with Hopkins' ball=lickers is like arguing with gay men that Chippendales shows are repulsive. Never argue with a Hopkins fan, you waste your breath, and they are too stubborn to believe that he has lost 3 of his last 5 fights. His time is FINISHED.

Pavlik by UD or late round KO. This aint PPV worthy though, they better stack the undercards to get decent buys out of this.

I cannot believe that this fight is going to happen, and in some ways I think that its not going because of the following reasons.

1 - We have not heard anything from B-Hop himself, now if he was going to fight Pavlik, his mouth would be going non-stop at the moment.

2 - B-Hop stated in and around the Calzaghe fight that he was done fighting "spring chickens"

3 - When was the last time B-Hop fought two fights in 6 months?

4 - Pavlik has nothing to win in this, at least calzaghe was kind of close in age.

5 - For me, Pavlik is never KO'in B-Hop, B-Hop's chin is simply made of cast iron. While also, B-Hop's ringsmarts are just too much, watch B-Hop holding for all the fight, and picking up the rounds here and there. Pavlik is not as smart as Calzaghe, and will not be able to change his game. This is a total no win for Pavlik and will ruin his chance's of fighting Calzaghe.

6 - Even if B-Hop has agreed to this fight, what money on him changing his mind?

I think all this talk is a way for team Pavlik to pick another easy fight, say Williams or a middleweight without much going for him, and say at least they tried to get a big fight but they where never able to get a deal done. Then they get another KO for the CV and then go onto a super fight with Calzaghe, and everyone is happy.

This if its true is a master stroke for Team Pavlik. Hopkins lack of stamina towards the end of the Calzaghe fight and the rather bull**** chorus of Hopkins fans making out that their boy didnt lose the last 8 rounds of that fight with Joe mean its win win.

Hopkins is on the wane and looks to lack stamina.
Hopkins has a vocal group of fans who elevate his current standing.

    High reward fight for Pavlik.

Sadly, I think B-Hop will win this fight. Pavlik won't have the same power at 170 as at 160, and B-Hop will frustrate him, tie him up a lot and hit Pavlik with counter-punches from the 4th round onwards.

That's about the time I expect Hopkins to start running out of steam...

However, say if Hopkins does beat Pavlik, what would it do for Calzaghe's legacy (if anything)?
