Pavlik has gone up the ranks and suprised alot of people with his ability. The same can be said after this Hop fight. Bernard is too old--you can debate his ability years ago but father time will catch him in this fight just like it did when he fought Joe.

No, what we will hear is "Joe ruined him". "Joe softened him up for Kelly". "If Joe hadn't given Kelly a blueprint, he would have lost". "Bhop aged overnight, he had MUCH more stamina for when Joe fought him". Somehow when Kelly stops him the JC huggers will have to find a way to make out that Joe still did better against Bhop than Kelly did.:deal

Not signed. "Loose ends" being tied up according to Arum was the latest.

Pavlik-Hopkins deal is finalized! Official announcement is coming shortly!

I say: great news! Any fight between two P4P-ers is good for boxing and this one is a real tough one for Pavlik, HUGE RESPECT for taking it! Although he might've asked for too much - Hopkins at 43 is still a great fighter, and taking away one's jab was always one of his big weapons. So Kelly needs a 110% performance and a masterful game plan or he'll lose his undefeated record and will look very bad in the process... Might not be a big brawl or something, but a very insteresting tactical battle one nonetheless...

I wonder if you will also blame father time when Hopkins beats Kelly ?

Freddie Roach won't train Hopkins for the Pavlik fight. He says he don't want to be there when Bernard gets seriously hurt. Interesting. Also: the official announcement is coming in Tuesday in Philadelphia.

So... who should train Bernard Hopkins? Who should fill in Roach's place in the Execution Squad?

I actually think Bernard is in trouble of looking instantly old in this fight ! There are limits to the fountain of youth and Kelly will expose that fact quite clearly !!

It's clear that Bernard Hopkins is only taking this fight in a desperate attempt to repair the tatters of his racially tinted world view.

After Calzaghe destroyed Bernard's belief that he could never lose to a white man, Hopkins is now fighting the whitest man he can possibly find.

If he beats Pavlik he can then delude himself that actually Calzaghe was just an uncommonly pale black man.

I think so long as Pavlik keeps it close for the first six rounds, without allowing Hopkins to dictate the tempo and nature of the contest . I can see KPs stamina being to much for Bhop over 12 rounds ,may be even with the prospect of forcing a late stoppage ,but i would go for points .This is especially so, if Bhop tires as he did against Calzaghe .The question is whether you contribute that to calzaghes style of fighting .KP for me then ,although always with the huge caveat that the extra weight may affect KPs stamina and speed as well as the obvious dangers of Bhops Ring craft even at 43.

Some early boxing odds. Guys... Pavlik is a VERY HEAVY favourite at BWIN:

    Kelly Pavlik (USA) 1.31 / -322
    X 19.00 / +2200
    Bernard Hopkins (USA) 3.50 / +250

I think it's time to put some money on the old man...

Surprised by that ,thanks for the odds .You would think that Calzaghe has destroyed Hopkins last time out based on those odds .Moreover that Pavlik is the second coming .Certainly worth a bet on Bhop :happy
