I am working on the Peek a boo defense. I was interested in your opinions as to how to make this defense work for me.

    Regards

homemade slip bag using a large sock filled with sand and some rope or even a spare bit of skip rope and hang it infront of the mirror then practise slipping, jabbing, hooking and weaving.

    Difficult skill to master.

To master the 'proper' peekaboo, a'la Mike Tyson, you need serious core/posterior chain strength. Stay low, if you stand tall with the peekaboo you are wide open to body shots. Use a slip bag to perfect your rythmn, as rythmn is a key part of being able to launch counters from the peekaboo. You need to learn to 'float' on your feet - you can learn to do this with a pad man that is always on the move. Keeping your punches short and 'tight' will also help you with this type of defense.

Rdj putting your Hands over your face isnt the Technique. The Fist is level with the shoulder, above stops the Biomechanics of punching correctly. As Bodi says its mostly in the Feet most things are as regards feeling motion, they are the foundation of movement.

    Thanks for the reply everyone.

Do you think that Winky Wright and Joshua Clottey are Peek a boo fighters?

No their not peek-a-boo. They just have a high guard, a la bernard but less tricky counters and parry's then bernard.

Mike is obviously as good as it gets, but patterson and dempsey had the goods too.

It mainly has to do with feet and how to progess will mainting a good balance and timing.
