JCC and Hemingway: That's a given. Brutal subtlety with nothing wasted. You rather feel than see the numbing effect of the execution. Ali and Shakespeare: Should be too flowery to really be good, but still the point gets home with fierce beauty. McCallum and Fitzgerald: Tremendous elegance without falling into the trap of being elaborate. So natural that it seems no more than an extension of the "author". Tyson and Ellroy: Unrelenting focussed and precise aggression. Goes for the jugular from the off without ever losing balance or precision. Yours?

Jung Koo Chang and Thomas Pynchon: you're not sure what he's doing or how he's doing it, but you're sure it is genius.
Archie Moore - Leslie Charteris Went on and on for years but the quality of the narrative rarely flagged
