I agree. There is several fighters with no promoters or small hall promoters who he could put on Sky. Of top of head, Liam & Ryan Walsh, Lee & Andrew Selby spring to mind. Thats only a few, their are many more.
Matchroom are going the UFC approach. Going to build a brand and have tv deals in each country. Nobody has cornered the global boxing market and as such Eddie sees a gap that DAZN allows him to enter various markets with ready made partners. The Italian cards will be for the Italian subscribers he will build their fighters up and create content in a market that is badly underserved. Boxing is a global sport that everyone loves if he can bring that to each nations casual fan base he will have a massive brand on his hands.
That is the plan its still difficult though its only really possible if they can control all of the top talent. You still need to make the best fights and that's not always easy to do in boxing.
This seems to be long term strategy from Matchroom/DAZN though. All encompassing network, funnelling the best talent to where theyre most profitable. Come Olympians turning over signing season, and you've got all these smaller off-shoots all around the world, and Top Rank/PBC etc are saying you have to uproot to America, they end up with a monopoly on the talent. Seems a bit silly people saying DAZN will end up getting rid of Hearn after 2 years, when the real vision is starting to reveal itself.
Agreed but I think his plan is to build talent up and promote them. Working with OPI will also benefit as he can use their connections in the country. I think he willl do likewise with K2 and potentially Sauerland in Germany. In Italy for instance they currently have no boxing content on TV so him putting on anything at this stage is a positive.
