Think the fact that Eddie has never come out and given a definitive "yes" MR will be extending the sky contract leads me to believe that it's not as straight fwd as the previous contract he had. He's either going all in with DAZN or doing done kind of partnership with them both. That may give other promoters a chance with sky. Maybe wasserman or some of the larger small hall promoters, like Steve Wood @ VIP. Or Steve Goodwin who both have large stables of fighters and are genuine towards their fighters. I would really like to see Woods or Goodwin get a chance.
Spot on. As someone said about his body language, he's leaving Sky. He's at the top of his game here and he's going to take his following, not sky's, over to DAZN. He's gone as far as he can with Sky, time for bigger things.
Oh they’ll get want they want, they’ll just get it in a UEFA-sanctioned Champions League that they have ultimate control over rather than in some rebel Super League.
I don't think it's about Sky as such, he's outgrown the UK. DAZN allows him to go global in a way Sky wouldn't. Finding it hard to believe Matchroom would fall out with Sky though, I can see some non-exclusive partnership coming up.
I see Warren seems confident that Eddie is off to DAZN. Says he understands that Sky haven’t even made an offer to MR at this point. He also says that AJ has only 1 fight left on his Sky deal. This content is protected
Frank loves getting involved! To be fair to him I think he’s largely right- Sky haven’t signed off on a deal.
Wonder if Hearn will somehow get both Sky and DAZN to allow him to put on a certain number of shows for each. Be the master sales act it he got them to do it. If I was then I I wouldn't allow it but if you are him it would be best solution.
Does Eddie have any shares in DAZN? Obviously he’ll get handsome fees for putting fights on there but I’d be interested to see what his vested interest is in the success of the platform and why he might prefer that over Sky. I can definitely see a streaming platform soon dedicated to sport, and if DAZN gets Boxing, Darts and Snooker there will be a decent base of subscriptions coming in.
Was it Golovkin that got gifted some shares in DAZN when they signed him, or did I imagine that? Either way, not beyond the realms of possibility Hearn has some shares, certainly with the enthusiasm they signed him up with in the first place.
