See, I get that. But that level of fighter is absolutely pointless. The sparring he had would have been better for him than that sort of fight. No one expects a hard test given the circumstances but at least someone who might make him think or give him rounds. He hasn't even completed 2 rounds at his new weight because he was fighting a can. It hasn't been of any real benefit IMO
Reminder that he pulled out of an English title ELIMINATOR recently. And then you have Bellew telling people what an amazing talent he is. He's quite fun to watch - so think how much better it would be to watch if he was fighting people who are at least full time athletes like he is
Do you think we get to a stage in 12-18mths where all the Matchroom prospects are at British level and above and all fighting for belts, with amazing cards full of decently matched fights? The list of prospects is quite expansive.... Anthony Fowler Felix Cash Joe Cordina Josh Kelly Joshua Buatsi Lawrence Okolie Ted Cheeseman
Brook wasn't supposed to be in the ring. Michelle Phelps said she saw Hearn telling brook to not get in the ring. Its not like this stuff is all written and rehearsed.
Ive always been partial to a bit of gash. I still think overall Hearn is good for boxing. How many promoters give you constantly quality cards every time? Some cards have been good some sure not so good, thought the recent Whyte card was fun overall. He’s put a lot on recently, maybe he should’ve gone the quality not quantity route, but that isn’t always possible.
I understand where you’re coming from but it’s more about the whole build up than anything. He can spar 1000 rounds but his heart won’t be in it. If you give these fighters an end goal they’ll train hard towards that, intensity in the camp will go up and then drop off in the week leading up to it. It’s a full simulation for when the better opponents come along. But he should have been in with someone who will give him rounds I agree.
Forget constant quality what about single quality. When was the last full quality show in the U.K.? Matchroom or FW?
What kind of losers actually bought tickets for that Liverpool show lol Anyone with brains could see there was only one decent fight on the card and that's exactly the way it turned out. Lo Greco is not even in the top 100, the 7th best in his division domestically in Canada! It's a farce that he was in the main event, and I like Eddie Hearn but he deserves to get loads of stick for this shocking card.
That's a myth. Buffer doesn't take home more than £50k for his ring work. He made crazy money by trademarking 'let's get ready to rumble` so made a fortune in licensing agreements.
