With Galahad banned, Degale with Matchroom and Fury fighting exclusively on BoxNation. Does anybody think Eddie could be smart and get a deal going with Channel 5 (with the blessing of Sky). If he put a few shows on Channel 5 it would increase the public exposure of some of his fighters, meaning Sky would benefit as boxers who fight on their channel will have bigger fan bases who will tune in to watch them. The shows Mick has put on channel 5 have been awful, not only have they been terrible cards - they're always in some half empty shopping centre. Channel 5 would love a Matchroom show, even if it's full of mismatches they always look good to the casual fan with their production and full(er) arenas.

I get that, I'm more talking with the blessing of Sky. To throw a few cards like that Birmingham farce on Channel 5. He'd get a million viewers watching Luke Campbell take some tin can's head off. The casual fans love that. Imagine how much Anthony Joshua's image would increase if he was KO'ing the type of opponents he has been doing on terrestrial TV. Sky would obviously benefit with more people knowing who their fighters are, so when they fight again on Sky, Sky would get more viewers. Just an idea like.
Possibly but I guess the exclusive contract Eddie signed with them works both ways, I agree with what you're saying, just can't see it at all
I was gonna say I could see Sky allowing that if Matchroom allowed Sky to show other promoters shows. But really, Matchroom and Wárren are virtually the only promoters in the UK worth a shít, and Wárren has his own TV channel.
Would be beneficial for the fighters in terms of exposure but I can't see it happening with Eddie having such strong ties with Sky.
It's a good idea Part of boxings problem is a complete lack of exposure of upcoming talent to the casual fans. :deal It's why they completely screwed up the Pac-May undercard, that was their chance to introduce talent to millions of viewers.
It's a good idea but Sky rarely work with any other channel unless they are forced to via rights deals. I think we have to be realistic with Mick and Channel 5- it's always going to be on a lower level than the majority of the output on Boxnation/Sky Sports simply down to money. That said there have been some decent fights on the channel in the past year. Francis/Ajasafe was decent and ****inson/Clarkson was an absolute war. Add that to the World Title fights on the channel from Monaco (GGG on terrestrial TV anyone?) and on balance it's been largely middling to decent. You are never going to see the marquee fights on Channel Five but I think they're presence in broadcasting boxing means that the sport reaches more people.
Would be nice to get more boxing on C5, although don't they have the highlight rights to the football league from next season? if so, that would pretty much tie up most Saturday nights from August to April, as I believe they are planning on showing them at 9pm.
It's a ninety minute show so the boxing could start at 2230hrs- not too late. They also could use Spike TV for the undercard as well- I don't think it'll be too much of an issue.
Not really feasible, the money isn't there and I can only assume that AJ, Campbell and other like that are commanding huge purses compared to others with their experience. As much as it may be a good idea, financially not great, plus channel 5 has no way of getting their fights out there for the public to hear about so the viewing figures are probably much smaller than that.
