Where do we draw the line though with good and bad promoting? The safety tirst bull**** that saw Deontay wilder nannied and mollycoddled into the heavyweight championship ship may be good promoting, but it singularly failed to capture the imagination of us fight fans.

Don't we have to expect some risk taking, along the way, or should every fight made be one where the odds are in your guys favour?

A broken eye socket is rare even for a boxer so considering getting punched in the face is the game it's unlucky tbh.brook also weighed in heavier than golovkin and there wasn't more than 10lbs difference on fight night.

Wouldn't have happened if he was fighting Malignaggi or Willie Limond though would it lol. Brook is naturally the smaller man. His eye socket broke because a bigger man with huge power was punching him in his eye socket. Nothing to do with luck.

And then he broke the other against Spence who isn’t the bigger man, so yeah there is an element of bad luck to it.

Spence is a big puncher though. Maybe having the other side broken and operated on weakened the other side. Is there a doctor in the house!?.

He had 36 professional fights prior to Golovkin and no broken eye socket. Steps in with huge punching bigger man and breaks his eye socket. Yep, bad luck.

With no real crowd we won't get anyone singing the real British anthem, aka Sweet Caroline, for the whole time, at least that could be something.

it was weakened due to the other being broken by golovkin.

honestly don’t understand why people are trying to say it’s surprising he had his face broken by a big puncher like golovkin when he jumped up two weights.

The mistake you make is ignoring that whilst he was more likely to suffer an injury against Golovkin than any other fighter he had faced, he was still unlikely (and unlucky) to be injured against Golovkin.

We all know it's a dangerous sport, but lets not pretend that someone like Brook was asking for serious injury simply by fighting Golovkin and that it was always somehow likely to happen.

I disagree. I also believe you work for Matchroom so your opinion doesn't mean a lot to me. You will say anything to defend Hearn and co.

All seems to have gone quiet on this announcement after the initial buzz.

With what? That he was unlikely to suffer that sort of injury against Golovkin?

You actually think it was more likely than not that Brook breaks orbital bones in that fight than he doesn't?

I think it was more likely than not that he would get badly hurt fighting Golovkin. A lot of people thought it was a bad idea at the time and those peoples concerns have been proven to be valid. Of course, slimey Hearn had a lot of people believing the hype that Brook stood a chance, but he never did.
