I’m not pro or anti Eddie, he’s just Eddie Hearn.

Looking through his stable of fighters though, where will he be in a couple of years? The overhyped ones are all falling by the wayside, and he’s going to have to cash in his golden egg this year.

Other than Buatsi, who does he really have now that has the potential? I’m not even sold
    On Buatsi tbh.

Joe Cordina is talented but he's also fighting at 130/135 so tough fights but from what I've seen he's got potential.

It's a fair observation and no doubt he will be poaching fighters of Mick and Frank again.

Hopefully Sly Sports open up the boxing to all promoters - Eh Day has really taken the urine and needs to fook off to the pay per pudding zone in the US

Assume he’ll have his pick of the 2021 Olympic Team, and you know he’ll be licking his lips at the prospect of getting the McCormack twins. Two great fighters (albeit one clear of the other), with great personalities, from Newcastle (apologies if they’re not actually from Newcastle, I’m an ignorant southerner who refuses to distinguish between geordie, mackem & smoggies or whatever they’re called up there, but I assume they’ll fight in Newcastle)

Tbf not sure britain will consistantly compete with the rest of the world. Will have good times and times not so good.

I reckon britains starting to lag behind in terms of training/sport science...the amount fighters are spending to reinvest in their training camps etc. Could be wrong...but watching a few recent documentaries etc really looks like a lot of these guys starting to make their way to the top...are re investing in themselves more. Also bigger gyms...better competition in places like america.

We,re still probably punching above our weight tbh but its inevitable we,ll have down times.

Agree with all of the above. Think he needs to start poaching fighters and fast. Wouldn’t be suprised to see Eubank back fighting on Sky tbh.

Can tell he’s in trouble, cause he’s genuinely going to sell us Kelly vs Benn as a PPV. He’s edging to it already.
That’s if Kelly doesn’t get turned over, which is quite possible.

Outside of AJ he will be more concerned with top US based fighters over the next few years. He seems to have a decent relationship with Canelo and that could really launch Matchroom USA.

Hearn is a top promoter but you can count how many fights he has made that capture the boxing world on 1 hand. His UK success is down to a weird cult on Social Media and the football market on Sky who he has played like a fiddle.

Let's see if he can really cut it in America as so far his shows over there have been mainly dreadful.

Eddie has plenty of talent in his stable, with some big names currently in the peak of their careers. In a few years time, I expect to see fighters like Wardley, Okolie, Benn, Buatsi, Kelly and Cordina having some success at world level.

Not convinced about any of those fighters tbh. Cordina is unproven in an extremely strong division, Okolie is lucky to have Hearn in his corner and is awful to watch to the point where no one wants to see him fight apart from the odd person on here, Benn has improved no doubt, but is he even British level? Again he's going nowhere in a stacked division, and Kelly is a solid Euro level operator but can't see him winning a world title, his showboating does my head in as well. Not even sure he beats Avaneysian.

I think over the past decade Matchroom has worked off the back of the Olympics mainly. It’s had huge success off the back of Olympic cycles, just the 2016 lot weren’t too great so now it looks a bit thin. The 2021 lot looks to have some really special talents though and then even the likes of Frazer Clarke who isn’t a special talent as such but he’s likeable and got ability, he will come in and mix it domestically at the very least.

The current cycle also have had an extra year in the limelight without the new lot coming through because of Covid. Buatsi, Kelly, Fowler, Cordina, Okolie, Yafai. Some good names in there but none of them have set the world alight and become superstars or matched the accomplishments of those from the previous cycle, Joshua, Campbell, Callum Smith etc.

With the McCormacks and McGrail likely to sign for Matchroom after the Olympics it will be a solid stable.

Matchroom went downhill as soon as Eddie got the DAZN deal and made conquering America is his number 1 priority.

Home advantage is a big thing in boxing, and fights at the right time. But Eddie is happy for his British fighters just to go over to the USA for a paycheck in tough fights, whilst Devin Haney gets everything laid on a plate for him.

    His stable is fine

He has Anthony Joshua, Josh Warrington, Billy Joe Saunders - all world champions all relatively young still so will still be up there in a couple of years. Callum Smiith could do something at light heavyweight, Lawrence Okolie looks likely to win a world title at Cruiserweight.

Prospects wise there's Joshua Buatsi, Hopey Price, Dalton Smith, Joe Cordina, Josh Kelly, Scott Fitzgerald.......

You'd expect him to get the top GB boys this year like The Mccormacks, Peter McGrail, Niall Farrell, Frazer Clarke.

I can't think of a more closed off industry than boxing promoting. Those in the in hang on to dear life until they literally die (Arum, Don King, Warren etc) and the only way in is having a dad with a lot (a real lot) of pull like Eddie had with his dad Barry.

Matchroom make their business from TV deals and live events. Whether boxers go on to be world champs is down to them.

boxing works in cycles and that’s not down to the Eddie. Who was the last boxer to capture the imagination as you put it after Hatton? That’s not solely down to Hearn but it seems Tyson and AJ have taken up the mantle in that time he’s made some big events and had Froch vs Groves at Wembley. I’m sure he’s doing just fine.

he has the most lucrative tv deal in UK and the most lucrative deal globally in DAZN. Based on that he will always be in pole position to sweep up talent coming through.
From a standing start he is now working with Canelo and GGG and has prospects like Haney and Castro coming through in the US. While signing a chunk of decent amateurs in the UK when they come through.

We are only a small nation and produce far many top boxers than we should. Some times we might have quiet periods but with the likes of Kelly, Buatsi, Cordina, Smith,
Okolie he will likely have 2 or e more that will go on to be world champs
Over the next 2/3 years while waiting for the next big star. Let’s be honest when the next big star comes through the amateur set up UK or abroad Hearn is likely in pole position to snap him up.

He’s got probably the biggest and deepest stable in world boxing when Warrington, BJS, Whyte, Martinez, Taylor, Bivol, Usyk, Hrgovic to name a few are thrown in. He’s in a good position to keep providing content to his broadcast providers for a number of years yet. I would say he’s probably in the best position he’s ever been in if we are being honest. The next big boxer from the UK will come at some point and my guess is Hearn would be in pole position when that time comes.

if we’re honest even if you don’t like him he’s the best promoter out there
