Victor won several fights in the late rounds in the mid-late 70's great Light Heavyweight round robin. Galindez by referee stoppage in the 14th.....with the scores knotted on the cards.
Galindez at his best beats Saad...hurting him with counter punching and fighting effectively off the ropes for a close 15 round decision.
They both had tremendous stamina and heart in their primes. They could also both take a punch and had the fighting spirits of gladiators. Tough one to pick. I'll take Saad to win a close decision or stop Galindez on cuts.
Saad by late rounds stoppage. I think conditioning would make the difference. Even in his prime, Galindez had very tough fights, razor close and in some cases, controversial fights with Yaqui Lopez (twice), Richie Kates and Eddie Gregory
Galindez by 10th round stoppage. When Galindez hurts him like Kates, Douglas, Johnson and Lopez did, he would not be letting him off the hook.
Glad to see posters positioning Victor in his prime in this 'debate'. Victor was a counter-punching machine durable, and Saad was 'durable' to say the least in his prime. An interesting PvP s c r a p. Due to Victor's passivity at times, I might go with a Saad decision unless Galindez cut loose when he had Saad hurt but, even then, he wouldn't have stopped Franklin. I might go with a Saad decision over 15. But both could be cut, and cut badly. Come to think of it, this could be a bloody, great s c r a p.
