Nomatias has predicted Smith is going to quit. He might well beat Smith but either he doesn't realize Smith is British or he's never fought a Brit in his life because if I've literally never seen a Brit quit in my life he sure as hell hasn't ever seen one do so This content is protected The 2 undoubted No Mas ATG Kings are 1. Nomaschenko 2. Nomatias Loma made 4 world class fighters, 2 of whom undefeated world champions, 1 of whom a P4P top 4 genius, pull a no mass in B2B fights and he did so not via size, strength or savage power but via the application of otherworldly skills and technical wizardry whilst being a demon on offence and a ghost on defence. Nomatias had a five string of B2B no mas wins, 4 of whom over undefeated world class opponents, which is highly impressive but he did so via relentless suffocating pressure, volume and power and he's big for the division and obviously he isn't near as skilled and defensively sound as Loma and he had to eat an awful lot of leather on route to winning the battle of attrition vs them So Nomaschenko is clearly the No Mas Goat That being said, no Brit has ever quit vs him because Brits don't quit
No Brit has ever quit against him, because he's never fought a Brit. Dalton Smith will be the first to do both.
Smith is going to school him. I believe he's the most underrated fighter in the world but I could be totally wrong Azim seems to be reluctant to fight Smith for a reason
I was talking about the British opponents of Loma not quitting vs Loma Even though I pick Matias to beat Smith and think his relentless pressure style should be a nightmare matchup for the low volume Smith, as it is for most fighters, I'm not completely writing off Smith's chances as he is a classy operator when he lets his hands go and he can punch and Matias might be on the downward slope now after all the wars he's been in
I should've read it closer, I'm still bleary eyed from putting together the monthly Fight List on Kirk's tread.
Matias reminds me of Bronco Lara and Teo Lopez. If he turns up at his best, there's no chance in hell that Dalton Smith will be able to keep up with him, but you never know what version of him is going to show up. If he takes 20 minutes to dance to the ring and pisses about for the first half of the fight, Smith might be able to 1-2 his way to a win in the same way Paro did, but if he is serious, focussed and determined, I see him grinding Smith down and winning by stoppage in the second half of the fight.
Bleary eyed is my normal state unfortunately On paper Matias should win but I just have a funny feeling Smith could pull it off with the right game plan and if he can avoid getting overwhelmed by the relentless pressure which is a big if. If he can hurt Matias that will drastically increase his chances of doing so. Still going with Matias but I'm less confident of him winning than I used to be. It's more based on a funny feeling than logic
Smith going the distance with glass jawed Mathieu Germain was a troubling sign for Dalton, who tends to be a little too passive and low output for his own good. We've never seen what he's like when put under real pressure, and if Paro's power couldn't dissuade Matias, I have a hard time seeing Dalton keep him at bay. So I think it's going to be a vintage performance from him. Although crazier things have happened.
Stupid comment really and might not age well, because we do not know how good Dalton Smith is. But in his toughest fight yet against Zepeda, he was fantastic and looked world class. The bookmakers rightly have it close. You're talking like Matias is unbeatable. Paro beat him comfortably and Ananyan beat him. He's far from this unbeatable monster you're talking like he is.
Sometimes boxing math just doesn't add up Smith is low volume and whilst he does look classy when he does let his hands go he likes to fight at his own pace He's making a big leap up in class vs an opponent with a nightmarish relentless pressure style and one which is even nightmarish for fighters who are much higher volume than Smith and can fight at a faster pace And Ponce, Ergashev, Dadashev, and Jukembayev were all undefeated, quality fighters and good or very good punchers and Matias stopped all 4 of them. Ananyan and probably Hawkins too were good fighters as well. I believe some of those guys would've become world champions had they not fought Matias And he's fighting Matias in his backyard That being said, Smith is a classy operator, he can punch, and Matias is easy to hit and can be hurt and Matias might have tipped over the other side and be on the downward slope now as he's taken a lot of punishment and a lot of what I said applied to Paro before he beat Matias too. I was more impressed with Paro prior to him fighting Matias than I have been with Smith so far but the timing could be right Theoretically Matias should win and I'm picking him to do so and via stoppage but I just have a strange feeling Smith could pull it off if he gets it right and can hurt Matias
Zepada is years past his best, and had already lost by stoppage to Prograis, so I don't think that was a world-class win. Smith is a solid fighter, but he is limited, and I don't think he has what it takes to be elite. I'm not sure how you have deduced that I think Matias is unbeatable. I literally said in the comment that Smith could win if the wrong version of Matias shows up, as he did against Paro. Matias is a monster when the right version of him shows up; he's literally killed people in the ring and has a 96% KO ratio. Smith couldn't even get Germain out of there, who is packing a major glass jaw. I fully expect Smith to lose this one by KO.
