175 lbs scheduled for 15 rds Both men at there best at this weight. Yes I realize this is possibly pre prime Moorer but to me he never looked better than at this weight.
Saad by stoppage. Better chin, better movement, at least equal heart, punching power and strength. Proven stamina, proven high quality of opposition.
Franklin has more proven heart than 95% of the fighters I ever saw. Not to dis Moorer here but I dont feel hes in Franklin's class in that dept.
It is a disgrace even to put their names together at ltheavy. This revisionist WBO title bull**** needs to end. Moorer did nothing at ltheavy against top ranked guys. He was just fighting yr average Kronk lthitting setups to start his career. Moorer was a professional whiner and the neophyte ltheavy should NEVER be seen as a ltheavy great. Or even contender. Saad deserves better in a dream fight than this fantasy fighter.
Jeez take it easy on me brother. Its Moorers punching power that made it somewhat interesting and I dont believe this ones been done befor.
Moorer's power got him notice. He arguably peaked at Light Heavy. It is revisionist not to recognise that at the time he was contrasted with Hill and Williams (two very solid 175lbers) and had his fair share of supporters who picked him over them. As for the fight mentioned: With 30 years of hindsight it probably is a comfortable Muhammad win; or as comfortable as Mathew could make it!
True. I didn't want to seem biased so I took it a little easy on Moorer. He did show good heart at 175 lbs and later against Cooper at HW. But, yes his heart at 175 lbs was not tested to the degree that Saad's was tested.
Saad was indeed great...and he was a sort of machine...too rugged, too fired up in the championship rounds for MM. This fight would end very badly for Michael...as he finds all about this machine called Saad Muhammad.
Moorer by Dec, flooring Franklin twice. Mike was an excellent fundamental boxer with quicks and 2 fisted power. He would never allow the likes of Parlov and Camel to go the distance. A thorough out-moderning here by Mike.
