Why would anyone give a **** what Matt Hughes thinks about anything? I mean it was quite a boring fight but that's because Kos brought NOTHING. You cannot blame GSP for defending his title with ease, blame the opposition and the matchmakers.

it's not that GSP doesn't want to finish anybody, it's that he doesn't wanna lose

    His priorities are

    1. Win the fight.
    2. Finish my opponent.

Sometimes trying to finish your opponent comes at the risk of getting caught and losing the fight.

GSP sticks to his priorities and rightly so IMO but I can see how that pisses people off.

its that he's fighting the best in the sport. GSP is a great striker but doesn't have that much power. To put on a clinic like that against Kos all the time being aware that he himself has a questionable punch resistance, and he has to go the distance, and Kos' wrestling takes a big part of his own game away...well that was an incredibly disciplined and impressive execution on his part. One of the best performances I have seen. I was convinced Kos was a VERY live underdog going into that fight as we have seen how much power he has now - it just seemed very possible he was going to at some point get into a close quarters exchange with George and land a big right hand. He landed zilch.

btw, the one thing that never gets boring is see Hughes repeatadly and brutally ktfo :good

If you look at it from another perspective, GSP was the only one who made that fight even remotely entertaining.

Koscheck was there only to collect a paycheck and take as little damage as possible.

Very hard to look spectacular against a guy playing Catenaccio and not trying to win. Koscheck gave as few opportunities for attack as possible by hardly throwing a punch and used his wrestling solely to gaurd against takedowns.

Koscheck is the one who deserves the criticism, and the UFC for giving this bum all the exposure he got on TUF which gave the impression this was a great fight.

  6. Matt Hughes is great at pointing out the hard facts. I hate to see it but after this fight i have lost a little for GSP. He might be great but theres too much professional and not enough fighting. All this training and expertise you hear of and in this stage of his career it is almost all used for caution and distance.

I would have to disagree with the second sentence. It was just very unfortunate for Kos that the very first jab of the fight completely ****ed his eye, and his vision. GSP was going to win either way, obviously, but KOS could have packed it in if he wanted to. It's pretty hard to be brave and fight agrressively when you are blind in one eye, fighting GSP.

GSP doesn't have too much power.

Love watching his kick on Hughes in their 2nd fight though :yep

As I said Hughes really doesnt have much higher ground to call GSP out for boring fights.

Yes Matt's career was more entertaining but the #1 reason it was entertaining was that he didnt/doesnt have submission nore standup defence as good as GSP's. He finished more fights but generally agenst a lower standard of opposition than GSP has faced recently. Look at common opponants like Serra, Trigg, Sherk, BJ etc and GSP has actually got more finishes than Hughes.
