If Renzo comes in in fighting shape - he'll wreck Hughes. Submit him with an armlock or something. Renzo's conditioning hasn't looked good in the last few years. Hughes has always been conditioned.

And that's exactly why he's gonna stomp Renzo. Hughes on his A game and injury free fights at a very good pace. If the real Hughes shows up Renzo is gonna get stopped brutally.

Im expecting a Renzo choke hold maybe Hughes shoots in for a double and gets trapped in Renzo's classic arm in Guillotine the move he made famous choking out Matt's former trainer Miletich :hey Maybe a nicely applied Triangle similar to what Charuto Verisimo nearly finished Hughes win a few years back. Renzo is very exicted to be fighting agian especially in the UFC he was at the 1st MMA event in Baltimore last month and discussed it and it sounded like he was getting a hard on just thinking about it.

Well considering the way Hughes feels about Gracie's, I wouldn't wanna be Renzo right now. This is the perfect fight to get Hughes motivation where it should be and he's gonna smash Renzo. People can talk about Renzo being a better MMA fighter than Royce but in the end this fight will end up on the ground and if Hughes takes Renzo's back like he did Royce expect to see Renzo's candy all over the floor:D

Renzo wont give his back up infact he wont be mounted. Royce is like a Bluebelt compared to Renzo. Renzo will pull it out of his ass I guarantee it hes coming for revenge.

So now all of a sudden the great Royce Gracie is like a blue belt compared to Renzo? The same Renzo Gracie that lost to BJ Penn at middleweight in Japan? Yeah ok.

We'll see about that. Sensitive little Renzo is 42 now and hasn't fought for 2 yrs. And the last time we saw him I don't think he did a good job selling his inability to continue against Frank Shamrock(a fellow Gracie Hunter). Hughes will come in better for this fight than he did for Serra. Hughes will be 2-0 against Gracie's.

Royce Gracie has accomplished more in the truest form of mma that I know of. Royce Gracie fought in the first 4 UFC tournaments, 3 of which he won. I don't know of anyone else doing anything like that, winning 3-4 fights per contest in order to win it all.

The key to Royce's success was his family's art, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. An art that Renzo is better at. Renzo lost to BJ Penn? True, but it was not as though he was thoroughly outclassed. Besides, Penn is more accomplished in bjj than Royce. Penn would defeat Royce too.

Shamrock, a "fellow Gracie Hunter?" Shamrock fought Cesar Gracie for is lone win over any Gracie. That was Cesar Gracie's one and only mma bout. Shamrock was really going for the gusto. Have whatever opinion you want about the ending of Shamrock vs Renzo Gracie, but Renzo dominated Frank before getting illegally kneed behind the head.

Why do these Hughes fans keep getting there facts wrong in this thread ? BJ vs Renzo took place in Hawaii which im pretty sure isnt any part of Japan. Renzo didnt do a good job selling vs Shamrock come on dude are you retarted ? Renzo was grapple raping Shamrock even though EXC was trying to fix the fight remember Herb Dean standing it up when Renzo had knee on belly postion ? So Renzo wont tap in a Kimura but he we will fake an injury in a fight hes winning and by the way he was in a dominant postion. Go get kneed in the back of the head 2 times and tell me how you feel my freind. Royce being a Bluebelt in comparison may have been to much but hes certainly a level below Renzo Gracie anyone with Gracie knowledge agrees with this.

Yeah I didnt quite understand him bringing up the Penn fight. Like you said Penn is much more accomplished then Royce is as a grappler infact im not aware of Royce winning any major tournaments. Penn won the Mundials in the Blackbelt after just 3 years of training and Renzo won Abu Dhabi in 2000. Like you mentioned Renzo did do well in that fight he cleary won the 1st round it took him what 10 secounds to take BJ down hell it took Hughes and GSP alot of wearing down to accomplish that. Renzo landed 3-4 strong leg kicks and did some nice GNP obviously he lost the remainder of the fight im just saying Renzo is fairly well rounded this is no Royce we are talking about.

Yeah you're right about that. It was Hawaii. I got that confused with Penn's fight with Machida.

As far as grapple raping Shamrock, sure he was. Frank was down 2 rounds. But I didn't buy Renzo being that hurt. Could he have been that hurt? Sure he could have. But it looked suspect.

And yes I agree. Calling Royce a blue belt in comparison was to much.

When I brought up the Penn fight, I brought it up because Renzo lost to a guy that didn't belong at Middleweight. I never said Renzo was thoroughly outclassed or anything to that degree.

As far as Shamrock's win over Cesar being his lone win over a Gracie, yes that is correct. But when I say "Gracie hunter" I mean he has it out for them. Just as Hughes did against Royce which is his lone win over a Gracie as well. But ask Hughes what he thinks about the Gracie's which he made clear in 2006, he's not impressed by them and will fight them. Renzo will find this out when he gets hammered.

Why is it suspect ? Its only suspect if hes trying to get out of the fight. Renzo had no idea it would result in a DQ the announcers though it would be ruled as a NC or a TKO for Shamrock for whom the event was basically built around then of course Dean said he believe it was intentional and ruled it a DQ. I doubt Renzo would train for 8 weeks get through almost a full 2 rounds and just take a chance at giving away a victory because he was just having a minor headache or something. Agian Renzo let his arm break vs Sakuraba does that not mean anything ?

Sure it does. Saku literally broke his arm. Still today that was one of the worst breaks in a MMA bout. That and Cory Hill's leg break. But their comes a point when you're just not that guy anymore. I mean don't get me wrong, if he was hurt then he was hurt and that's fine.

But worser things have happened to fighters. But I guess it just depends where and how you got hit. The knee strike was to the back of the head so perhaps he just couldn't continue. I had a Kickboxing match when I was a teenager and the guy faked a body kick and brought it high and he caught me right in the point of the back of my head as I for whatever reason tried to turn away like an idiot:-( I felt that shot for a whole week.

I know striking the back of the head is dangerous, what I'm saying is Renzo just seemed like he was acting just a little. But I'm not him, so I can't say if he was faking. I don't show how bad I'm hurt. But that's just me.
