See the difference between pro and amateur boxing? Recognized today's LHW champion of the world Kovalev getting schooled by today's MW contender Matt Korobov (hard to believe):

Korobov still has time to turn his pro career around, but what you say is true.... Success in the amateurs doesn't always mean success in the pros.

    Gennady Golovkin IIRC beat Korobov.

He did but Korobov was sensational in the amateurs. He beat so many top quality amateurs and future quality pros.

There is another fight where Kovalev easily beats Korobov. Look it up.

He needed a better trainer. He didn't even know to take the knee when he was hurt by Lee. If he did, he could have survived the round and win the fight on points. By now, we would have seen Golovkin vs Korobov unification.

Couldn't find anything about this either. But Kovalev lost to Korobov in the 2004 nationals middleweight championships but then the following year Kovalev won the 2005 national middleweight championship, perhaps he might have beaten Korobov at some point during that tournament, would love to know for sure.

Don't think Korobov competed in the nationals that year and he didn't lose to Kovalev if he did.
