    I'm really excited about him, he's a truly great talent. I've been watching him for a while now and he's honestly one of the best amateurs I've seen. He went nearly 4 years undefeated and totally dominated almost all of his opponents. Most thought he was a sure thing to win Gold, but he just couldn't pull it off under all the pressure and expectation. I'll certainly be following him closely as a pro.

    Top Rank unveiled 2008 Russian Olympian middleweight Matvey Korobov (ctr) of Russia, at a press conference at Brighton Beach in Brooklyn Monday. Considered to be one of Top Rank's most important signings in years, Korobov poses with father George (L) and chief trainer Dan Birmingham (R). He makes his pro debut in a special special attraction fight on Top Rank's "Final Impact" card on Saturday at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Top Rank Pay-Per-View.

    Korobov, of course after winning his first pro fight, returns to the ring on 13th of December. He's gonna fight on the Torres-Holt III undercard. No opponent yet.


    You can watch his pro debut here, which by the way shows that there's a lot work to do to adjust to the pro style. But it's only a few weeks since he left the amateurs, left Russia, moved to the US, started training in Birmingham's gym and he's in the ring already. Sparring with Winky could give a lot of experience to him, and of course fight regularly before stepping up in competition is the right path. Korobov is the one in the red trunks.

    Promising. Good jab, quick hands. Really needs to try and get more leverage in his shots instead of those amateur arm punches. That will come.

    He's trying to work the body too.

    Yep! He is a great talent.I am absolutely positive that he will make a lot of noise in the paid ranks.

    I am just wondering why the hell nobody signs up the best fighter of the olympic tournament in China,Lomachenko.
    He fought like an alien from another star.He also won the european title a few weeks ago.He is without any doubt the most promising living amateur at present.Who will win the race?? An American promoter? A German promoter?

    Korobov returns tonight, on the Margarito-Mosley undercard. His oppoent is Roberto Florentino. An easy tune-up fight scheduled for 4rds at SMW.

    Korobov won the 4th by a last 10 second KO. It was a pretty uneventful fight with Korobov controlling the action, but refusing to put combiantions together. And... Bang!
