Ended up being quite a tough fight for him in the end last night. He looked a little shaken up at the end. Having said that, that right hook/uppercut of his is a thing of beauty.
ROBERT GARCIA TO TRAIN MATT KOROBOV! The trainer of Steven Luevano (who just beat Bernabe Concepcion) and Brian Viloria (KO'd Ulises Solis not long ago), Robert Garcia will train top MW prospect Matt Korovov, who'll return on the October 10 Latin Fury card, having his first 6-rounder. Matt last fought in June and he's having his longest brake so far, so let's just hope he'll waste no time and gets a good opponent when he returns. He can walk through the D-C-B level competition in no time, he's very much experienced, makes few mistakes and speed, pro style and conditioning is getting better and better.
No same-day weigh-ins though. Most physically mature amateurs compete at a lower weight in the pros than in the amateurs (i.e., Andre Berto, Andre Ward, etc.).
FFS. You have a kid who's a beast but who has some limitations that might make him becoming an outside jabber not the best idea in the world, and you hire a trainer that turns fighters into outside jabbers? This is just a stupid, stupid move.
He looked great. Such fast hands. excellent precision and his right hand is remarkable at coming over his opponent's left.
this guy is going to be good by the way he has been added to the oct 10 latin fury card not sure if it has been mentioned but just wanted to let you guys know
great vids bone!!! kid looks like the goods. excellent footwork. look like he was schooled properly. great positioning, etc. can't wait till he really gets rolling.
Does anyone know what happened to his Saturday fight? He was supposed to fight on the Latin Fury PPV undercard, but he didn't for some reason. :think Anyway, here's Korobov vs. Jacobs from the amateurs: [yt]SGZEe7y3Z7o[/yt] I hope he gets back into the ring ASAP, he's having his longest gap between fights, 4 month and growing. He should be matched for a minor title by the end of the year but things don't seem to go that way.
Nevertheless,he dominated every single round of his encounter with a teak tough cookie named Winchester Anyway! Korobov is a great fighter, but a dime a dozen in Russia.
Not bad,eh! You are right! But what do you think about Pulev's pro career? The Bulgarian heavy beat Nigerian olympian Olokoun in his 3 rd pro fight.Damn! In his 3rd outing to a ring in the paid ranks! Thats very impressive! Olokoun is an experienced pro who had derailed Lamon Brewster's comeback train just a couple of weeks before he took on Pulev.
Thats the problem, hmi! The vast mayority of Russian top amateur fighters dont have family ties with the USA-there is no American promoter who signs them up(thats why a very limited handful of Russian top fighters end up in Germany),most of Russian top amateur boxers cant speak english. They are just not marketable over there in the USA.Who wants to watch a Russian top fighter with a Russian name who cant speak English in the states?
