1 - Great news 2 - Macklin ducked Korobov 3 - Uzcategui is a one of the best MW prospect/unproven contenders although he doesnt get mentioned too much. Perfect step up fight for both guys to prove themselves.
Love this fight. I'm glad Macklin didn't want it....tired of seeing this guy get a good fight and then get destroyed or look mediocre. He's not that good of a fighter.
Uzcategui's a better fighter at this point, anyway. I'm thinking the winner gets a crack at GGG later in the year.
The winner would be a solid defense if Geale or Murray doesn't happen, alot better than Fletcher. Uzcategui won the WBO SMW Latino title in his last fight even though it took place at 160 and Korobov is ranked #4 WBO. BJS is supposed to be Quillin's mandatory if he wins his next fight but the winner of this one being in a WBO eliminator isn't impossibe either.
What am I missing? Uzcategui seems like your basic S. American banger with a bunch of kO's on an inflated resume. Yes, I did watch him on YT since I saw this thread.
Wow, surprised this is happening. Big step up for Uzcategui, and likewise the kind of step up that most of us had given up holding our breath for Korobov to ever take in spite of having been around creating buzz for a long time.
Well, general consensus among diehards is that he is better than your basic dime a dozen South American banger with a bunch of kayos on an inflated resume. :conf
Macklin looked pretty lacklustre against an ultra-green Lamar Russ the last time out, while Uzcategui scored a solid victory over a former contender in David Lopez. The Destroyer is faded, but he probably was at least as good as the untested Russ when he met Jose. Korobov might be in for a tougher night, in truth...though I still favor him to pull out the W.
