It's been four years since Matt turned pro, and after all this time, he's had only 17 fights, has yet to meet even a fringe contender, has no regional title belts, and no world ranking. What's the story? This is strange; Matt should have advanced further by now. Is he having promoter troubles? This question was originally raised in the Euro forum. I think the issue needs to be upgraded to the main forum now, to be discussed fans who are smarter and more manly than the Euros. Answers?
Seen him twice in person. Last time on the undercard of Pavlik/Martinez. Pounded out a decision victory. Not a world beater. Not sure why the inactivity though. TR is tops at bringing guys along though. No one does it better.
I messaged Cameron Dunkin on facebook about 2 weeks ago and he said Korobov should have a fight in 2 months. But with no opponent named yet.... Expect another bum.
Ask Dunkin why Matt doesn't have any alphabet regional belts yet. Those regional trinkets are the key to a world rating, and an eventual title shot. What's the deal? Maybe Dunkin doesn't want to pay the sanctioning fees for the belts?
He doesn't have a regional trinket because he hasn't fought above 8 rounds yet. Despite that, he was ranked by the WBA and maybe the WBO? In an interview early this year he was excited about stepping up and having some bigger fights. He was supposed to be on the Rios card that got cancelled in April and again in June. The only thing I can think of is he may have had some issues with his nose. He's gone through an extensive transition period with all the different trainers and the surgery. www.b*xingscene.com/korobov-plans-come-back-on-gamboa-vs-rios-bill--49891
