Good looking win for Matt. Ossie Duran's a reasonable step up in quality and had never been stopped 'til last night. If Matt can fight again this year at a decent level he'll be back in the mix at 160. I see him being in the top 10 - would like see him tangle with one of the Brits maybe early 2014. Middle's looking real good at the moment - lotta good matchups to be made, and if Korobov can step up too, its gonna be even better. Hope his management promotion issues have been resolved fully so he can focus on his boxing.
With Pavlik retired and JCC iffy at best to return to 160, Arum currently has no presence in the middleweight division. Look for Korobov to get that push, along with the freshly-signed Japanese Olympic superstar Ryoto Murata. Just my 2 cents. :good
"Korob" in Russian means "box". Since we call him Matt now, might as well translate his last name. Matt Box. Boxford. Boxington. Boxborough.
My Russian ain't good enough. But isn't that box as in a roughly cubical storage container. Like someone would have the surname Carpenter or Cooper (barrel-maker) in the UK (with the -ov suffix equating to -son). 'Boxing's (the sport) always transliterated from the Latin when I see it in Cyrillic. (wow. I've been drunk for almost 2 days and managed to use the word 'transliteration' -or it's variants twice - without trying!) Matvey 'the boxmakers son' Korobov might not sell as well as expected however.
