The best fight the best...or the bloke that beat Kimbo. From Barnett to Mittrione...seriously. He did us a favour by turning it down

    Mitrione explains his decision:

I couldn't stand Mitrione when I first saw him on TUF, but he has grown on me. And what he says there is right. :good

Still, dude IS in his mid-30s, and his career has really stalled out......

    :hat

  8. Dana trying to publically coerce guys to fight again. Mitrione isn't even relevant

No comments on Mitriones' reasoning? I thought he explained himself quite well. He's perfectly right - returning after a long layoff against an in-form guy who is Olympic-level at Mitriones' weakness, that's not a great idea for him.

I think that's a damned good fight as well. But I think that if Werdum wins, he should perhaps go into an Overeem rematch with a title shot on the line. Unless he somehow ruins Cormier with ease. If Cormier beats Werdum and looks good doing it, then I would consider that win to be more than enough to make him the next title challenger. Werdum wins, IMO he'd need a title eliminator first.

The question is - if Cain beats Junior, does Cigano get an immediate rubber match?

Matt Mitrione and Daniel Cormier are not at the same level. This fight would be pointless.

  11. Basically this. Dana must be trying to bump mitrione off or give Cormier a decent UFC highlight

Respect for mitrione for calling his own shots

No Respect for a man who will call out a lighter figher whom everyone knows is shot, but turn down a fight vs a champ.

  13. Put down the comic books. Mitrione recently lost to kongo he isn't ready for a shot at Cormier. It doesnt make sense or ecrn sound appealing. Dana using peer pressure and vilification to try force someone into an unfair misnmatch, fighting someone who obviously outclasses him isn't what I would want to see...

I think its totally fair for him to do that. If you're not ready for a fight take your time and wait for the right one, no sense taking a fight when you know you'll get beat to ****.

Unfortunately the keyword here is time. Something he doesn't have, while I understand why he turned it down I also know if that was me I'd be going balls to the walls with that fight. A final make it or break it fight for me.

A win there could have pushed him into limelight. He probably wouldn't have won, but isn't that what this sports about?

If I were a mid 30's fighter looking to do something with my MMA career I would have taken that fight.

Again, I completely understand why he didn't take the fight though. He just needs to realize calling out Jackson isn't going to make a name for him.
