It was a bit of a beta move by Conor trying to apologise while getting his @rse handed to him after all the crap he talked/did leading up to the fight.

Im inclined to think its McGregor melting with the "its only business" chat. It was quite clearly very personal the Bus incident to everyone who knows about it !

This, plus the fact Conor seemed unwilling to meet Khabib's gaze during the weigh-in and the pre-fight instructions, when he does it in every other fight while mouthing off and mean mugging at his opponents. Here, his eyes were absolutely everywhere apart from on Khabib.

    From 5:45 onwards.

I also loved how, at the weigh-in, after slapping Khabib's hand down, Conor subtly pulled Dana in front of him before aiming a kick in Khabib's general direction.

And that's before we even get started on all the fouling Conor was doing...

McGregor has lost the edge that made him a feared fighter, i doubt we will ever see him tearing threw opponents and divisions again he has gone soft i believe.

2 years out also has affected him, he lost momentum and probably missed 2 prime years there, nearly 31 now i think he will physically decline within 2 to 3 years, high living and a lack of hunger to train hard.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with the youtuber alpaca thesaurus, but he's one of the tip top content creators in combat sports. He has a background in clinical psychology and does excellent breakdowns of body language etc.

In his analysis posted above he argues that Conor wasn't saying "it's only business" but instead "fighting business", meaning that Conor was saying that the fouls were part of the 'fighting business' and that Khabib should nut up and deal with it while Khabib was complaining to Herb.

The narrative he presents is persuasive. It makes sense that Conor would illegally knee Khabib in the head to avoid the embarrassment of Khabib chatting incessantly while holding him down. The narrator does have a pro-Conor bias throughout several of his videos, but even as a Khabib fan I have to admit he's makes a lot of sense. I think people have latched onto the idea that Conor was apologizing because it fits with a more pleasing narrative, i.e. the trash talker getting humbled but why would Conor basically beg for mercy after doing pretty well and arguably winning th ethird?

Because he was gassed out, Conor is not the fighter of 3 years ago, he always looks for a way out, his days as an elite fighter are over, all he is now is a big name for other fighters and a gimp with a huge beard selling whiskey

I still think McGregor would've lost to Khabib, since his takedown defense and ability to fight off his back is still very poor, but McGregor wasn't very smart to waste two of his prime years.

Yeah he took that two years out and lost the momentum, id still like to see him get a third fight vs Diaz, i have a feeling they might make that one next or vs Anderson Silva

I thought this nonsense had been debunked already.

Conor did not say "It's only business", what he actually said was "Don't kiss us" which is Irish slang for don't stand so close which Khabib was at the end of the round.

    Course he did
He couldn't handle Khabib and was getting battered. He wanted out.
    He's a ***** and got manhandled.
    End of.

Strange things happen to fighters when they end up getting manhandled and / or mentally broken in the middle of fights. Look at Roberto Duran: nobody -- not even Duran himself -- expected him to quit against Sugar Ray Leonard in their second fight.

And then in the aftermath of this, you have Conor saying he didn't prepare properly, trying to subtly insinuate that he'll do a lot better -- and maybe even decisively win -- a rematch against Khabib. That Conor McGregor didn't prepare properly nobody else's fault but his.
