Both in their primes, how does this one play out? I think Skelton wins on points in an ugly, scrappy fight that would be crude but entertaining.
Skelton didn't really have a prime. He debuted at 35, got his title shot at 40 and fought AJ at 47. Skelton was probably the 3rd best British HW of Lennox and Akinwandes generation. Boxrec has Allen as the 15th best British HW and he might be worse than that. Skelton won the Commonwealth/EBU double and was fairly dominant at the regional level. Allen has not been. I think Skelton beats Allen fairly easily if hes in his prime.
Skelton was better in his prime, there was more depth to the British level heavyweight scene back then, which may give the illusion to some that Allen is better, because he’s only really lost at a higher level than British level, but that’s because, like I said, the depth was greater back in Skelton’s era.
