Heavyweight Matt Skelton (22-2, 19 KOs) will defend his Commonwealth title on February 28 at the NIA, Birmingham, against Irishman Martin Rogan (11-0, 5 KOs). Skelton, 41, is aiming for a second world title opportunity after losing to Ruslan Chagaev on points in Germany last year in a challenge for the WBA title. He will begin as favorite against undefeated Rogan, but will be wary of the Irishman following his shock defeat of Audley Harrison in December. This will be Skelton’s 14th championship fight, and he has now won the English, British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight titles. He captured that latter belt in December when he forced Paolo Vidoz to quit in Milan in December in a victory that deserved more publicity than it received. “Rogan is a dangerous fighter and I was impressed by the way in which he dug deep against Harrison,” said Skelton. “Anyone with an undefeated record is a threat because they don’t know how to lose. But I believe I will win this fight.”

    Skelton wins on points:think

This is a pick 'em fight. Neither guy is particularly skilled, although Skelton has more experience at a higher level. However, Skelton is OLD and ready to be taken. I would not be surprised at all if Rogan wins this.

Skelton should win but Rogan is a tough cookie and is always in good shape, should be a good fight as they are both attack minded fighters.

    Really?

Skelton is a solid Euro level fighter, Rogan is a clubfighter

:DYep Skelton does like to 'cuddle' his opponents to sleep......
They used to call him the 'K1 Cuddling Killer'

rogan is not a club level fighter, dont be surprised at all if rogan wins, hes going at it full time now since only taking up the sport at 32 and has only in the past year put on a stone of muscle, gets better every time hes out, as well as being much much fitter. hes also ridiculously hungry, with a good chin and is always going to bring it. what is a joke is that only one of skeltons belts is on the line. someone explain that to me please.

Yeah, but Skelton's also 40 years old. And not at the high end of Euro-level fighters, either.

Rogan is hardly a spring chicken, nearly 38!

OK, he has the biggest name of either on his resume :patsch, but still - Skelton gave Chagaev a problem or two.

Rogan is a great guy and capable fighter. But don't forget he is also a cab driver.

And not as good as Skelton.
