I see from ESB's front page David Haye has been downplaying Matt Skelton and as much as I love Haye & respect him he's full of **** on this one because top 10 ranked or not Skelton is a beast and would give Haye issues. Slow, boring as he may be Skelton is still a tank. In fact Skelton has never been KO'd. As I said props to Haye and I do actually see him winning a decision over 12 rounds but certainly not a KO, he would be just too fast for Matt at the end of the day though when all is said and done but he shouldn't chat so much **** about a boxer who though old would give him a heck of a fight!!! Skelton gave Chagaev the fight of his life recently and I'd love to see him in the ring vs Wlad or Valuev personally just for wow factor of it all though that said Wlad would decimate him in 6; Wlad is just too accurate and powerful...would still be an interesting fight though. I know Peter hasn't yet picked Skelton or Fraudley for July but lets hope he picks Fraudly because truth be told I simply don't see him Ko'ing Skelton who I see as being a VERY dangerous foe for Peter though he might win via decision through activity or Don King *ahem*......... Bottom line: Skelton may be slow, boring and technically **** but he hits like a mule and takes punches like a rhino and whether he fights Haye or Peter I would be intrigued to see how it unfolds. Not excited but intrigued and not at all shocked if he won either.
well if Haye really does fight someone more difficult than Skelton then i'm all for it. going from fightnews top 16 1. Wlad Klitshcko 2. Samuel Peter 3. Ruslan Chagaev 4. Nikolai Valuev 5. Tony Thompson 6. Alexander Povetkin 7. Sultan Ibragimov 8. Alexander Dimitrenko 9. Oleg Maskaev 10. Shannon Briggs 11. Vladimir Virchis 12. Juan Carlos Gomez 13. Andrew Golota 14. Chris Arreola 15. John Ruiz 16. Hasim Rahman
Since Hayes victory over Enzo he has been walking and talking like he defeated a Muhammad Ali:nut Skelton would be a good start at heavy. Haye Skelton i believe is a 50/50 fight, Skelton is big, robust and has good power and stamina, all the ingrediants to beat Haye. I agree Mawoodhouse that Ruiz would beat Haye if they fought.
Haye says his fight will be with a top ten heavy, but who's top ten is he picking from? There won't be alot of avialable top ten fighters to pick from. Ruiz and Golota are two good tough fights, but I think Haye will fight someone who is known, but is no longer top ten, like Rahman.
Totally disagree, why fight Skelton, what is there to gain??.....But fighting higher ranked fighters he gets to the top quicker and yes will be fighting better opposition. Skelton isn't the greatest fighter on earth, he is a big lump (who can box tho). But theres far better fights for Haye, just because he said no to Skelton you say his full of ****. Thats BS and weird a Calzaghe fan can say that....i'm a big JC fan, but why didn't he fight Froch when he fought a poor Manfredo?? Double standards eh.
