Kris Carslaw has always told me that Matty was the toughest opponent hes faced, such a warrior, hope the guy retires in good nick, he seems like such a gent and nice guy.

Would you say that was one of Matt's best performances Arnie (taking the weight into account)? How do you think he'd get on against Brian Rose?

Cheers lads. Arnie you can be proud of your work with Matt. Finally got his head moving and letting hands go and Curtis is right you cornered him well on Thursday you was right about the step across to the left to cut Billy Joe off and get left hook into play more. TBH he would of been hard to beat for any LMW's domestically on Thursday.

He's unlucky the lad. Hope he can work with you in the sport.

I remember making a thread about him a long, long time ago. Him and Bellew. I thought he could really be something, but truthfully speaking, he fell a bit short of what I was expecting. Ultimately he just lacked a few ideas against better fighters, how to set up his work, you can't just hook to the body all night at this kinda level.

But he's made up for it in wholeheartedness and commitment. Even though he's perpetually been on the verge of retirement he's always come up with the goods effort wise and that's all you can ever ask.

Yeah can remember people speaking of potential world titles after he sparked Pryce.

I still think he has a future at light middle.
He should never have fought BJS, he was never going to win against a much bigger fighter.
Put him in with Liam Smith and he wins all day long, but obviously he seemed to mean it when he said he is retiring.

He's 28 if he did go i wanna come back i'd say take 6 months out and recover physically and mentally from a tough few years and then have some fights that take him out of firing line and let him get back some momentum and try make another go of it.

I saw some improvements but sadly i think he's genuinely finished with it all. Sad because i think he'd have success back at LMW.
