I laugh at anything Oscar De La Hoya self promotes.

that promotion is a 1 trick pony.

Brits got nothing to lose in this fight.

If Alvarez doesnt KO Hatton in a spectacular fashion than Mexico's future boxing potential gets embarrassed.

Nothing to be embarassed about. Matt has made the most of his talent & could have chosen a easier Euro-level guy.

The main reason this fight was made is the relationship between golden boy & Hatton promos.

Embarrass is a horrible word used in the sport of boxing , the only person who should be embarassed is you , because if you seen Matthew Hatton and said this to him , he'd probably hand you your ass !!!!!

Question , did Frank Bruno embarrass you against Tyson , did Ricky Hatton embarrass you against Floyd Mayweather , did Michael Jennings embarrass you against Miguel Cotto ????? ................. because they did me proud !!!!

Matthew Hatton quite rightly as you say is not the best WW in Britain , but he's getting a chance , and he's stepping up to the plate and taking that chance , that my friend is courage , confidence and having big balls :deal

    He aint embarrassing nobody :nono

i will always support the underdog. i don't know how he could pull it off really.
i think it will be used as ammunition for non-descript boxing fans. who will use him as another example of poor british performances......when all the others in the division are better in general.

and can some you dudes stop being pricks. by saying they did you proud. **** off. stop being so self righteous. as if they are doing it for the cause. they do it because they love it and i will support them for showing some passion and enjoyment. which matthew clear does. thats while i will be watching. not because he is breeteesh.

if matthew wins or goes the distance, it's possible.. he will keep the hatton promotions alive. because he will never leave, and any success he has will reflect on the family and the company.

    Ridiculous thread title.

That aside, Hatton has improved massively over the last twelve months culminating in a very good performance to win and then two good performances to retain the european title. Like it or not, retaining a euro title gives him a legitimate claim to a world title shot.

He's facing a very good potential talent but someone whose record is not top notch. Two very good wins over good but ageing opponents. Lets not hype Alvarez too much until he beats a live opponent.

That being said, Alvarez beats Hatton. But that's not an embarrassing result for anyone. Nobody has ever claimed Matthew Hatton to be more than a decent domestic level fighter. I was ecstatic when he won the euro because he's overcome a lot of low points in his career. A world title shot is probably the pinnacle he'll ever reach, but fair play to him.

Alvarez beats him, but let's not get blown away with the GBP hype. Alvarez is a very good talent but he's not some monster that's going to eat Hatton up. This is a good learning fight for Alvarez against a game but ultimately lesser opponent. I expect Matthew to hold his own until the mid rounds when Alvarez's class eventually shines through. Mid-late stoppage.

Ridiculous thread title though. Thread starter should have word with himself. Hatton is embarrassing nobody by taking this shot.

Why all the hate for Matthew Hatton? The guy has fought in his brother's shadow for his whole career and now is getting a chance to shine. I'm happy for him.

:deal - Anyone saying otherwise is a disgrace, To be honest the Cotto - Jennings fight is one of my favorite fights because Jennings showed real courage to keep getting back up even though he was taking a real beating, if Matthew goes in there and gets destroyed in a round he still has my respect. As someone has said before me he could have taken the easy route and won 1 or 2 more easy european defences, then fought Senchenko for a world title, but no instead he is taking the hard route. People should be getting behind him not looking for excuses and worrying how it will reflect on them.
