In 2001 Macklin was the star of England's amateur boxing team, and was expected to win a medal at the World Championships in Belfast. But he broke his hand and was forced to withdraw. :think
Either way, he supports that shower, and hence I have a resentment for him. Anyways, Montiel's comeback....
My thread has both rounds in it. Cermeno clearly didn't recover from the counter left hook to the body at the tail end of the second and wanted no more it seemed. For those of you interested, Jpab goes into more detail on said fight in his thread on the issue. Leave this shite, and get involved in the KO-Chul discussion.
Suprising how he stopped him with ease. His opponent only had some SD losses against decent record guys.
Aye it upsets me, **** off and fight on setanta then instead of taking Sky's money and raisning your profile by fighting ofr English and British titles.
Montiel is ours actually... Check out the video. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ebgz5AlD_o&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
A few people have had a go at him here for apparently 'shunning' Britain. I think that's a little unfair - he is obviously proud of his Irish roots and when it came to a major fight in which he was obliged to choose a flag and an anthem he choose the nationality he identifies most with, it's quite understandable really. I also think it's unfair to contend that he's taking advantange of his Irish roots for financial reasons. Surely, he would be more popular and consequently make more money if he played it 'safe' and classified himself as British and merely conveniently paid lip service to his Irish roots. At the same time I wouldn't have a go at any British fight fan for claiming him as I think it's quite fair given that he was born in Britian and grew up there..
Irish peoples SKY subs dont count anymore now do they? what did you think of Jamie Moore when he fought for the Irish title? I dont remeber Irish people claiming him
Did I hear right in the commentary on Saturday that Mackin used to play hurling to a decent standard?
