I think that I can speak for the whole Choctaw nation when I say that we don't really need any more petrol being thrown onto what is an already volatile situation :deal
I see no difference in Macklin's situation than that of many people born/brought-up in another country to there parents heretige, go start a thread about the Klit brothers, they were born in Kazakhstan by Ukrainian parents, they consider themselves Ukrainian, although have Kazakh accents, come on, does this all really matter, especially on a boxing forum....!!!!!!!!
if both your parents came from the gypsy community and you spent a large portion of your youth (say - your childhood summers) surrounded by gypsy culture than you could reasonably be considered gypsy
He's just doing it to maximise his fan base, could be seen a sell out putting his Irish heritage first ahead of his English nationality but it is a touchy subject with Ireland and Britain. Hey even Froch is coming out with his Polish heritage maybe trying to appeal to all the Poles in Britain.
not really yous out number us by 10/1 and have a **** amount of word champs for the siza of ur country and an even worse amatuer team
well i can tell ye know lightheavy .middle, lightwelter, lgithweight, featherweight, and light fly are better and a country of 1.5 million whooped yis in golds in the commonwealths i can safely say now even with home advantage well do yis in the medal count in 2012 also ur amatuer youth teams are very poor .ye have nothing comin up through the ranks
While its debateable whether ours are currently better than your amateur's or not, imo its just a matter of time before our amateur progress out does GB's progress, if the improvement's in our amateur's results is anything to go by.
It takes a little more than 2 week holidays every summer to play hurling to a standard that would get you on the Tipperary minor squad. That's pretty impressive actually, i was surprised by that.
Macklin wanted to cash in on his Irishness because he knew he would gain an instant fan base and the door to America would be open. He also joined Brian Peters as part of the deal and that has worked well for him. I have heard his playing for Tipperary under age being questioned on Irish websites. I don't think he played too much if at all. For a top contender he doesn't have much of a profile in Ireland. Willie 'Big Bang' Casey is far better known.
Problem these days, is because of how PC the world has become, people think they can pick and choose their nationality, when I believe your nationality chooses you, you dont choose it. Where you are born and raised should be considered your nationality imo. There are exceptions of coarse, but you just have to apply some commonsense at the end of the day. People also seem to confuse race with nationality to.
