Fights going to be embarrassing. Hope Macklin can put a good fight up but really can't see it.

Macklin's face first aggressive style, not going to be clever is it? Not against Martinez. I just hope he does himself credit, on paper and on footage it looks a complete mismatch and a styles mismatch too.

 

macklins gonna get drawn into a slugest and end up coming off worse, this wont go past 6 rounds.

 

I know what you mean but just think embarrassing is a little strong. I reckon Mack will give it a good go before ultimately coming up short and probably get stopped mid to late rounds.

 

Just don't see Macklin having the skills Barker did to cause problems for Sergio. He's straight up and down and if he's too aggressive he's going to get his arse handed to him because his defence starts to fall apart, he doesn't transition well. Martinez's speed, unorthodox angles, its horrible for him. Good luck to him though, he's going to need every bit of training he can get because he'll need to be in ridiculous shape to absorb inevitable punishment.

 

Barker got a lot of unfair flack, he boxed well he just didn't have the gears to go through like top fighters do but him and Tony put a shrew plan together and i haven't seen anyone for a long while bust Martinez nose or land with regularity and take rounds off him. Darren did very well and can be proud of that display.

Macklin did well against Sturm but so did Murray and Murray shipped less punishment doing it. Macklin didn't have to do anything complicated to get to Sturm against Martinez he'll have to be a lot smarter and i can't see him doing that.

 

Totally agree with this, but my question is this and would be the same question for the most of the brits that have recently just fallen short.

What is it that they can do so they can go through the gears and perfrom for the whole 12 rounds? or to be cleverer in the earlier rounds to ensure they have enough to last the full 12 rounds.

Is it mainly down to fitness / stamina? which it sounds to me like it is and if it is surely thats fairy easy to improve?

 

What god-awful version of Rocky Road to Dublin did you put on that? It violated my ears I tell ya! Whats wrong with The Dubliners version?

Hope Macklin can pull it off, put its massive task in reality.
