Does anyone think that GGGisabum could possibly have an agenda? In short, Macklin may never have been elite and may now also be past his best, but a victory over Sturm is better than the majority of fighters will manage in their career. Losing to the best in the division doesn't suddenly make him a 'bum' except to the kinda poster who also thinks that GGGisabum. If you look back to rankings from 2011 even before the Sturm fight you can find lists which have Mack in the top 10. After getting stiffed on the cards against Sturm, Macklin remained in most top 5s until meeting Golovkin in mid 2013. If you call the kind of guy who's only (in recent years) lost to the divisions elite a bum your standards are high indeed. TBF he didn't look much like a world level talent in his last coupla fights and he may have lost a step or two, but to suggest that somehow he's never been a top, though not elite, MW is disingenuous. I think most of us would probably accept there's gradations of talent between 'world titlist' and 'bum'. Macklin probably does (or did) slip in somewhere close the top of that continuum as a solid contender for a coupla years.
No not a bum he really beat sturm but he did get robbed To call a boxer who had given a lot in the ring is cowardly
