Before Macklin talks about world title fights, he has a very hard fight in Feb against unbeaten Dmitry Pirog, who may beat Macklin.

I see this as more Cotto Jennings than Pavlik Lockett.

I'm not Pavlik's biggest fan but pretty sure he would stop Macklin.

 

Id expect Pavlik to be too much for Macklin. Id love to see Macklin - Barker though!

Pavlik would stop Macklin mid rounds. People have definitely forgotten that Pavlik is still a quality fighter.

He should only be lookin at the Germans IF he can manage to beat Pirog, and thats a big if. Pirog looks a quality fighter and will easily provide Matts biggest MW test to date.

 

Disagree there. I think Macklin has a punchers chance against Pavlik. Jennings would never KO Cotto in a million years.

 

For me also Macklin gets stopped. Sylvester's a better target.

Hopkins is a freak and also a natural light heavy these days. I predicted he'd find a way to win against pavlik but the way he did it it was like he was 10 years younger.

 

Wow, I've only seen Macklin fight Elcock and he looked real world class and Pavlik has always looked like a readable plodder to me but I trust the assessment of TFFP, the guy is seldom wrong. Even picking Ward to beat his guy! So is Macklin really that far behind Pavlik?
