    Darren Barker

"I don't wish to resort to trash talking like the WWF, this fight is too good for that, but I think Matthew's one-dimensional and I'm supremely confident of beating him. I know he can box as you don't reach his level by simply being a roughhouse but in terms of his all-round ringcraft, boxing ability and handspeed he's just not in my league. I also feel my power is underestimated and I'll definitely get the better of him,"

this was in response to macklins comment "If I’m honest I see it as an easy night’s work because Barker’s just not in my league. I know a lot of people see it as a very competitive fight. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion and there has certainly been plenty of talk about it but most people said that the Wayne Elcock and Amin Asikainen fights would be 50-50 affairs and I simply blew them away and I believe I’d do the same with Barker.

“It’s nothing personal against Barker, whenever I’ve been in his company he’s seemed like a decent lad but it’s all about levels and I just don’t believe he’s on the same level as me. I think he and the people around him are deluded if they think he’s capable to winning a World title and as long as he doesn’t try to squirm out of the fight then I’ll prove that.”

    No I dont actually.

Maybe its just that barker has nothing to talk about because he has done nothing to be proud of - his achieves thus far are extremely hollow in my opinion.

I posted a link where a deluded Barker was saying he is the biggest fighter in the UK! what a clown - HE needs to stop yappin. He's just about the biggest boxer in Barnet. He's fought no one, he is massively overrated and his fans are racist scumbags!

I genuinely cant wait to see him lit up in Brummie - maybe we can stop hearing about the hypejob then.

Macklin has been talking a lot more than he has in past bouts. I wish he would just stop the talk now & just get down to the hard graft in the gym. The fight does not need any talk. We, the fans, know its a fight of some magnitude!

I do think Macklin will put the pressure on Barker from the off, but he has to be careful! Longer the fight goes, the more I favour Barker!

I am interested to see what will happen if Macklin lands cleanly because Barker has not faced anyone who hits as hard as Macklin in my view!

Imo both are talking utter bollocks, I can see both sides of the story. Macklin seems to want to engage in the war of words. Barker didn't but is slowly being dragged into it. The hype of the fight needs the needle.

Were talking about a huge fight here domestically. I think Barker has a point to prove. He seems to either be vastly underrated or overrated. The lads a decent fighter who must bring his A game. Macklin's achievements could be called into question as well. Elcock past his prime,Asikainen chinny and not the same fight he once was. Good wins but we can nitpick fighters records all day.

Fact is when the two step in the ring it's there ability to box/fight and adapt that wins them the fight aligned with fact both will need to show big hearts and chins. Macklin's advantage is he's shown his but that doesn't mean Barker is a loser...he just hasn't had to show his heart yet.

I leave you lads to continue the war of words.
