They've added this to the undercard of Rigo/Agbeko, Kirkland/Tapia. Does this mean they're giving up on Nelson? Moving him up to MW against a hard puncher like Macklin after he struggled at JMW against Cuello. Poor Jack Lowe. Busy night of boxing with the Juda-Malinaggi card on Showtime.
Nelson looked like he was fading bad in the Cuello fight so they probably want to see if shedding less weight will help their man out. It's worth a shot in my opinion.
At 6'3 I can agree with that philosophy, but bring him up to 160 against a journeymen level fighter on FNF and not a top 10 MW. He hadn't even faced a top 10 JMW. If Nelson's team are banking on Macklin being shop worn from the Golovkin fight they should realize Matt was taking out by a body shot and Golovkin spared the head. It feels more like his team have seen his limitations and are taking the cash out route.
Relative to Cuello, yes. He's got better than average pop at MW. He's got atleast as much pop as Jackson's kid, with better placement.
