    Dmitry Pirog - 14-0 (11)
    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=325260&cat=boxer

In his last fight he shut out Kofi Jantuah.

This fight will be for the Euro title.

It looks like Hatton is doing good with keeping his good fighters busy. Good on him. This is Macklins third fight in 5 months.

Mandana, can you put the vids under each other rather than side by side as it makes the page really wide. Thanks.

I've watched 90seconds and his balance looks **** poor. He is off balance continously, before punching, after punching, during punching and when he isn't punching. Macklin can be tenacious and push guys off balance, I'm sure he could take advantage of this.

I'm not impressed. A bit boring, not very fast, not particularly strong or powerful. His balance and stance look poor and the poor guy doesn't know which guard to choose or when to use which one.

    Macklin can do him.

Pirog looks very tough. This is a very dangerous fight to have when you're angling for a world title shot. Not saying he should duck him, but it's not good to fight a guy like this when you have 1 eye on the fight after it.

Yeah I agree, but this is what we want really.

I'd much rather have a dozen guys that fail at top end Euro level fighting the best guys (like Pirog for instance) than have more Gary Lockett types that get a lucky shot and embarrass British boxing.

    100%.

Like I've said a million times before if our fighters follow the traditional route they will find their level. Thankfully we have a route to the top and each stage gets harder. Find your level and keep trying to break that level.

If Macklin is European then I'd much rather see a Henry Cooper type fighter who builds a great British and Euro record while occassionaly getting that good win that allows him to venture into the lions den.

I don't want to see anymore Lockett and Jenning type fights. Our guys need to get their shots the right way, not cos Frank Warren fighters are clearly liked by the WBO.

Ya I agree, I hate to see guys skipping levels, even if they are capable. But I think Macklin has already proved his British and Euro credentials with the Elcock and Asikainen fights.

Pirog after only 14 fights looks the business I think. Whatever way the fight with Macklin goes I would expect him to be at world level in a couple of years anyway. A fight then would make much more sense.

Matthew has already built himself back up to this level after set backs in his career, and after being ignored a bit by the public and promoters. Pirog has no name at the moment outside of boxing circles. Even a competitive loss to a no-name at this stage could stop him ever getting to world leve, which I think he deserves a shot at.

Still if Matthew takes him, which i think he could if he's focused, it will be a great fight and a great win. As a fan I'm really looking forward to it, wish it was on in Ireland. It's just a big risk is all, if I was his promotor I wouldn't think twice about duckin this guy.

For Macklins reputation this is a great fight for him... There are a lot of positives for him to take this fight... A win will put him up the World rankings and give him more clout at any negotiating table the Hattons sit down at...

A couple of defences of his Euro belt to get a few quid in his bank and then go for an eliminator for a shot at a World Title...:yep

I hope it works out for him, he is going the authentic route where he will get experience, credibility and hopefully some decent paydays...:good

I agree. Macklin is domestic and Euro proven. Put him in a world title eliminator as he is ready.

This guy has beaten Janutah who has mixed it with the best. He dominated him on the cards like Ouma and Abrahms couldn't so to a degree this guy is world proven and a world class win. He's undefeated, high ko ratio, he's fought other tough customers etc
