Matthews: If the fight is to happen again, we want double or triple the money

I know some prospects who get 5k for beating up journeymen so I'd imagine these guys were getting 15-20k each. If I was Crolla and fought 5 times and make £35k I'd be looking for another job.

 

Just because your brother nets about 2 grand, doesn't mean championship boxers do.

Your just guessing up numbers you have no idea about, so basically they trained 8-10 weeks for 2 grand, they will be out in the street soon according to you and have no way to pay they're mortgage.

They wouldn't fight if they only cleared 2 grand, like I said your talking out your arse.

 

If Derry sold close to 1000 tickets thats a minimum of 40k and thats if the tickets were all £40's which they weren't. They ranged from £30 to £250 for vip I think. His VIP sold out quick and he had to put an order in for more so your looking at £40k+ just from Derry in ticket sales.

I personally think he would have had to walk away with a minimum of £10k-£12k after paying everyone for himself to get in that ring. I think he would be asking for nearer £20k-£25k next time.

 

I think I am right in saying that ****** used to pay about 10% comission on ticket sales to boxers so If he is netting £50k worth of ticket sales he is probably topping up his purse nicely.

 

He got offered 15k to fight burns in December, he turned that down. Someone asked him why fight crolla but turn down burns, you won't be getting anymore than 15k he said no buy there's a title on the line. I'd guess it was 10-13k each plus a ticket percentage. The 50k comment is ridicoulous he may have got near that for fighting Rees (not likely)

 

They will have got a ticket deal that's where they would have boosted their earnings... If they sold 500 tickets each then the probably would have got an extra £4k- £6k from that point of view my point was without selling any tickets.. Who has me timed my brother in this.. I know the going rate for these fights.. I speak to a few boxers who have fought in and around this level and know exactly how these work...

Why do you think they are moaning about they purse?? If they cleared £10-£15k for 6 weeks work would be good pay day for both fighters.. Maybe Derry will come on and say what he got!!

 

I don't think Derry wants the third fight. TBH if he got paid peanuts then he must of been fighting for nothing because he's been to 3 different places in his camp and got decent sparring in.

I think they got paid decent enough for a purse bids fight on another promoters show.

 

Only clearing 2k after 8 weeks of training and last time he fought (so the last time he got payed) was nearly 4months ago ?

I didn't realise boxing wages where so bad, no wonder ricky burns still works in a sport shop hes probably doubling his wage.
