You voted that you thought it was a draw. If Matthysse had one more crystal-clear round on your card, you wouldn't think the wrong man won?

The problem is people use the term robbery to refer to situations where the wrong man wins even in a close fight, simply because there isn't a more readily available term to use in those situations. There isn't really word for "Lite robbery".

It was just a close fight, it was one of those fights where a lot of punches were hitting gloves and elbows and weren't really landing. Zab was potshotting him and blocking a large majority of Matthysse's punches, I tend to rate a clean shot to the head higher than a body shot and I think judges do as well. I had it a draw, simply because Matthysse had some real good rounds at the end, but early in the fight he was doing absolutely nothing and I basically had to find rounds to give him.

After the Mosley Mora fight there was the same type of crap robbery posts, even though the Mosley Mora fight was a close fight. I don't know of a term to use in this position, but it certainly isn't robbery.

WHAT?! So he gave the apparent* 10-8 round for Mathysee to Judah?

    * Haven't seen the fight yet.

Then you should hate the Boxing Organization and tv channel(s) that put him up there.

There has only been two boxers ever that I hated, Judah and Mike Tyson. I have oddly enough found myself defending Judah on this site from time to time over the years.

What Im getting at is that Im no Judah fan not even close, but fights are scored by rounds and the truth is Judah kinda dominated the early round. Not winning them in dominate fashion but winning a dominate number of them. Those rounds count just as much as the late rounds. Too often fans are blinded by what happens towards the end of the fight and tend to forget that a guy was winning the early rounds. A knockdown is only worth 1 point and judges rarely score 10-8 rounds without knockdowns, so guys giving 10-8 rounds when there was no knockdown only shows that your pulling for one fighter over the other. Like I said im no Judah fan and I didnt even really score the fight but my feeling at the end was that it was close and a crap shoot as to who would win. Robbery??? not even close. That is a word thrown around too much, its not like anyone has alot vested in Judah at this point, no one is going to make a mega fight with Judah in it. Now the Matthysse kid is still out to jury as to what he can become, so going by that, if a promoter or network was pulling for one or the other to win, money says go with the one that had the 0. Not a shot, weak minded older fighter like Judah.

Yeah, Judah's nothing if not a good front-runner. Matthysse was his own worst enemy...had he pressed it earlier, he could've gotten the decision or possibly gotten Zab out of there. There's been too many robberies this year, but this wasn't one of them. A razor-thin SD in this kind of fight, I have no problem with.

I've not seen the fight, but everytime I open a robbery thread, I see guys giving their score cards with most of the tough rounds to score being draws and some 10-8 rounds when there were no knock down. This is not how a fight is score, so go do your homeworks before calling a fight a robbery.

Like I said, I've yet to see the fight (I watch Johnson/Green and Lopez/Marquez yesterday) but I'm seeing some strange things in this thread.

Commenting on a fight you have NOT SEEN is just plain stupid.I suggest you watch before giving your 2 cents worth-cause thats all it is worth.

I think Matthysse won the round but it wasn't 10-8. To be honest, I didn't think either guy did enough to win the fight...much like Mosley-Mora. Zab won more rounds and Lucas had the knockdown and almost got the KO.

:thumbsupExcellent, objective post. I thought it was extremely close and could have gone either way. Most of the people calling it a robbery probably had money on the fight. Matthysse's chin and power impressed me...he'll be back. Zab, on the other hand, was not all that impressive but he did outbox Lucas for the majority of the fight...

It was a close fight, Judah winning the earlier rounds and Mattysse coming on strong at the end of the fight. I thought it could have went either way and the scores reflected that.
