Judah didn't "clearly" win many of them either. I could and did give Matthysse more than one or two of the first eight rounds - in fact, he won half (and half the rounds through six on Lederman's card, incidentally). Judah had a couple of nice moments but CLEARLY lost the 12th. Only a nuthugger could have it differently. Round 1: Judah 10-9 Round 2: Judah 10-9 Round 3: Matthysse 10-9 Round 4: Matthysse 10-9 Round 5: Matthysse 10-9 Round 6: Matthysse 10-9 Round 7: Judah 10-9 Round 8: Judah 10-9 Round 9: Matthysse 10-9 Round 10: Matthysse 10-8 Round 11: Matthysse 10-9 Round 12: Matthysse 10-9 That's 116-111 Matthysse. One or two of those early/middle rounds are negotiable, but even swinging three of them Judah's way (which is a big stretch, IMO) still keeps it a draw. Unlike just about everyone else on the forum, my rationale for scoring each round can be inferred by looking at my detailed real-time explanation of what happened in each round (which people are free to fact-check while re-watching the fight) in my RBR thread: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=265536
Far from a robbery when you have a Split Decision separated by one point on all cards in an extremely close fight.
Being there in person and with a few drinks my instinct was Judah lost though two knowledgable fans next to me thought zab barely won. The flow of the fight was in Matthysses favor he was also seemingly attempting more to win and the rounds he did win he won clearly and forcably. The crowd also expected more of judah as did I. Looking back did he score enough rnds barely by a few jabs maybe that's what happeened. He couldve landed his left whenever he wanted why he held it all night is beyond me At first I thought he was taking the first 4rounds light not to get gassed but he never put the foot on the pedal.
I haven't seen it either... But I hope not. Being from St. Louis myself, I can say that fight was a HORRIBLE ROBBERY. Alexander got his ass beat.
Swing three Judah's way and it's 114-113 Judah. I thought Judah was controlling the fight more and getting in sharper punches early.
Neither fighter truly dominated the other, Matthysse did get the knock down, but all it did was just bring him closer on the score cards.
Uh the reason there is so much up roar was because Matthysse in the later rds was ..Ring generalship went to Lucas ..
IB, I can't disagree with your scorecard really, but we just saw close rounds go different ways... but I did think Judah won the 12th, at least watching it live I did. I don't like re-watching fights to score them, because it doesn't mean the same.. knowing the outcome changes how you score, and you start to watch for certain things instead of just watching.. especially since the suspense of a KO or KD is completely erased.. IMHO re-watching fights is the worst way to score them. I just thought Judah landed more clean shots in the 12th, and he had a great flurry at some point that swung it his way.. Matthyse's flurries didn't land.
If this was a street fight on a corner in New Jersey than yeah Matthysse was the clear winner, but this is boxing, Judah landed clean shots throughout the first 9 rounds and even in the 12th. This is scored on a must system and a round by round basis, you can't just say oh Matthysse won because he got the later rounds and got a knockdown after watching the entire fight at home. Check the punch stats they're landed and thrown punches were exactly the same, keep in mind Zab was landing cleaner punches to the head which are usually what judges like, does a clean jab to the head count for anything to people these days seriously learn how to watch boxing, either Zab or Lucas deserve the fight, in my mind this was a draw watching the fight as a whole, but could go either way on a rbr basis.
