I missed these fights, but have read a fair bit about them on here. Was either a legit loss? I have seen highlights and intend to watch both in full when I have time. I would be interested in how esb'ers scored the fights if you can remember or just general impressions. Cheers
I remember watching both live and thinking he won both clearly but the Zab fight was closer. Not seen the Judah fight since but rewatched Alexander last month and it was a worse robbery than I remember, awful judging imo. Judah making a fight relatively close with Matthyse looks a hell of a result now to be fair to Zab.
They were both close fights,Matthysse as the travelling fighter needed to stamp his authority a lot more and he didnt really do that imo.Hes got this thing in his head now where he doesnt want to leave anything to the judges and looks to make a quick start in every fight hes in hence all the one sided beat downs and quick knockouts.Hes not invincible though,Humberto Soto looked like he hurt Matthysse a few times in that fight and sent him back peddling.I have a feeling the Garcia Matthysse fight might be closer than some people think.
Judah fight was close he basically boxed with Judah then turned aggressive late and got a knockdown i still had it to Matthysse by 2-3 points The Alexander fight wasnt even close he came out and was aggressive from the start and Alexander didnt look good at all Its funny when people bring up the losses the Matthysse from the Judah fight loses easy to Alexander but because of the Judah fight he was more aggressive, then after getting robbed the second time he just goes all out now No way the Matthysse from the Judah and Alexander fight stops Peterson in 3
Matthysse won both but Judah was closer, Alexander result was ridiculous, best I could do for Alexander was 97-93 in favour of Matthysse
He won both for me. The Alexander result was one of the worse results I've seen in Boxing for a while. As bad as Lara - Pwill almost. I remember seeing an ESB poll with about 200 odd votes, about 91% voted in favour of Matthysse. Alexander had the snot beaten out of him. Judah was a close fight, but Matthysse deserved the nod. Judah didn't do enough in the last few rounds. Matthysse started to get to him late. He should have an unbeaten record really. I'm glad he's getting the recognition he deserves despite some shitty decisions against him.
Its actually impossible to score the the Lucas vs Devon fight in favor of Devon. Lucas wins at least 5 rounds ( i gave him 7) plus a KD, in a 10 round fight. Robbery gets overused on these forums but Devon vs Lucas was a robbery and even Devon looked embarrassed. The Judah fight was a bit closer because Lucas started off slow, 7-5 plus a Kd is a clear win though but Judah got the nod. Lucas was harshly done i feel.
Not seen the zab fight but Mathysse spanked alexanders ass, i think i remember havin him 4 points up,but id have to watch it again, shame it wasnt a 12 rounder really, not a bad scrap
Matthysse beat Alexander, but the fight was in Alexander's home town with Alexander's personal judges and referee. The commentators thought Matthysse won, but surprise, hometown decision. Kotelnik also beat the crap out of Alexander, but it was in Alexander's home town with his judges and referee once again. Matthysse had Judah hurt badly, Judah got some help from his referee. He had Judah drunk................Al Bernstein had Matthysse beating both Alexander and Judah. It wasn't close, but since those two robberies Matthysse has been knocking out all his opponents. He knows that in America he has to knock his opponent out or the damned crooked, criminal judges will rob him. In a rematch, Matthysse would knock both Judah and Alexander out. When Matthysse fights Garcia, the judges and referee will be on Garcia's side, but I don't think they can cheat him because Matthysse will knock Garcia out. I think only one of Garcia's titles will be one the line, but not sure. Garcia had some huge demands in order for him to fight Matthysse. Garcia did not want to fight Matthysse and I don't blame him.
I think both of Garcia's title WBC, WBA and Ring magazine title are on the line. Some people whose opinions I respect give Garcia a chance though picking Matthyse to win. My view is that Garcia is improving whilst Matthyse has improved since Judah and Alexander fights.
